Tom Noble lands on Beats In Space
The first solo record of the year by disco and boogie auteur Tom Noble will arrive on Tim Sweeney’s label later this month.
Revealing a recent move to New York (in search of ‘prosperity’) in the interview accompanying his podcast for Juno Plus last year, it makes sense Tom Noble’s first record afterwards lands on Beats In Space. The two-track 12″ will arrive under the name House of Spirits and is Noble’s first solo outing since the Dancing Hard release for Clone Loft Supreme Series in 2012. Noble provides the title track “Holding On”, a production said to be inspired by the ’70s disco label Salsoul and gospel soul singers, while on the flip Aaron Coyes of Peaking Lights provides a dub entitled “Keep Holding On”.
Noble breaks the sampling disco edit mould for this release and all sounds heard on House of Spirits come as live interpretations played by musicians transforming Noble’s original sketches into “a widely – and wildly – dynamic live performance”. The accompanying Peaking Lights Dub has been explained by Beats In Space as a “free-flowing disembodiment of the performers, melting into one amorphous, hustling and bustling entity held together at the whim of Coyes at the controls.” Like all Beats In Space 12″s, House of Spirits comes with original artwork with Noble himself responsible for the fluorescent sigil shown below, and a removable vinyl BIS logo cling courtesy of Will Work For Good.
Beats In Space will release Holding On by House of Spirits on April 28th.
