Spectrum Spools to issue album from Prostitutes
James Donadio’s prolific output continues apace with Petit Cochon due for release in May.
Self-professed ‘primitive technology specialist’ James Donadio has become one of the more prominent figures combining techno and noise since first establishing the Prostitutes guise with a self-titled album on his own StabUdown Recordings label in 2011. Last year saw the Cleveland based-Donadio grace Digitalis with the Crushed Interior album, inaugurate the Mirror & Gate tape series from Opal Tapes and Blowing Up The Workshop, issue the Shatter And Lose 10″ on Powell’s Diagonal Records and feature on the Feral Grind compilation that Perc’s Submit label issued to document the current state of producers doing similar things from within the US underground.
A brace of Truncheon Cadence 10″ releases for Avian sub-label Mira released in January opened Donadio’s account for the new year, and contained perhaps his most rhythmically minimal material as Prostitutes, apparently a mere glimpse of what to expect on his forthcoming Spectrum Spools debut. First alluded to in a Spectrum Spools mix for the Electronic Explorations series last year, Petit Cochon is due in May with the 10-track set described by the label as “a total burner, no exceptions”. The addition of Prostitutes continues Spectrum Spool’s peerless year thus far with the timely reissue of Donato Dozzy and Nuel’s Aquaplano Sessions complemented by the recent announcement of a debut album from Catholic Tapes founder Brett Naucke.
Spectrum Spools will release Petit Cochon by Prostitutes on May 12.
