Delroy Edwards to release Teenage Tapes on The Death Of Rave
The L.I.E.S. and L.A. Club Resource artist will release his “debut mini-LP” on the Boomkat-affiliated label next week.
Since he first appeared on L.I.E.S. in 2012 with the brilliant 4 Club Use Only, Delroy Edwards has been one of the label’s brightest talents, releasing a further two record for Ron Morelli’s imprint and providing the Juno Plus podcast series with one of it’s more relentless editions. Since then, Edwards has collaborated with Funkineven, and launched the L.A. Club Resource label that’s acted an outlet for the kind of ghetto-influenced club tracks he’s largely known for as well as introducing some hitherto unknown names such as DJ Harlow.
Given his history, the news of his next release comes as somewhat unexpected. Arriving on Boomkat in-house label The Death Of Rave – whose previous subjects have included Mark Leckey, Merzbow and Powell – the Teenage Tapes mini-LP is described as a “bold statement veering between brutal noise, no wave techno and black metal/Badalamenti-esque mutants” with minimal wave and EBM influences. The LP is reportedly split between tracks produced by Edwards recorded to tape when he was at art college, and another set recorded more recently made while jamming on his SH-101 and drum machine “that didn’t quite fit in with his pounding DJ tools”.
The Death Of Rave will officially release Teenage Tapes on LP format on March 3 though Boomkat already have it on sale.
