Sónar reveals second wave of names for 2014

DJ Harvey, Ron Morelli, Svengalisghost, Laurel Halo, Machinedrum, Visionist and more join the Barcelona festival.

Although a trio of commercial names in the form of Pretty Lights (pictured above), Rudimental and Flux Pavilion head up today’s line-up announcements, experienced selectors (and personalities in their own right) DJ Harvey and Tiga have been announced for the festival, which takes place in Barcelona from June 12 – 14 this year. However, it’s perhaps the names further down the list that offer the most excitement for us here at Juno Plus, with a host of interesting talent bringing their unique live performances and DJ sets to the festival.

L.I.E.S. will continue their path of global domination with a label showcase featuring label founder Ron Morelli and Svengalisghost, while Ninja Tune’s Machinedrum and Hyperdub’s Laurel Halo will both deliver their equally exciting live sets. The UK’s burgeoning grime contingent is represented by Visionist, Berlin’s Recondite will bring his stripped back, atmospheric techno to play, and Portugal’s rising Príncipe Discos label will be represented by DJ Nigga Fox. The new names bolster what looks to be one of Sonar’s most varied line-ups for some years, with the fresh announcements joining the already revealed heavy hitters of Massive Attack, Plastikman, Four Tet, James Holden, Jon Hopkins, Oneohtrix Point Never, Moderat and Caribou on the bill.
