Rivet returns for Kontra-Musik duty
The Swedish producer will provide the first Kontra-Musik transmission of 2014 with the forthcoming Bear Bile EP.
First emerging under the name on the Frozen Border offshoot Naked Index back in 2011, Rivet came to wider acclaim with Amid The Roar, his 2012 debut for Ulf Eriksson’s Kontra-Musik label, which featured a high profile Marcel Fengler remix. In the subsequent period Rivet has become a name synonymous with the current wave of Swedish techno, gracing the Skudge Presents label with two fine 12″s, remixing Tyler Friedman, Dungeon Acid and Ben Sims, and generally demonstrating a capacity to produce both the merciless and the offbeat.
Rivet’s return to Kontra-Musik comes after the label enjoyed perhaps its most impressive calender year to date, teaming up with Skudge for the SKUM label, issuing albums from Jonsson & Alter and TM404 (Andreas Tilliander’s Roland obsessed conceptual project) as well as continuing to champion more deranged fare from Massprod & Herva and Frak via their White Label series. The Bear Bile EP is described as a continuation of the “complexity of sound and composition” shown on Driftwood, Rivet’s release for Skudge Presents last November, and can be previewed below.
Those intrigued by the title should know that Rivet and Kontra-Musik are highlighting the plight suffered by some 20,000 bears in captivity who are daily tapped for their gall through an open, often infected, wound in the abdomen, and suggest you check the WSPA’s work in this area.
Kontra-Musik will release the Bear Bile EP by Rivet uin 12″ format on 17 February with the digital edition to follow a month later.
