Pioneer announce DDJ-SB Serato controller
The entry level controller offers two-channel control of the Serato DJ software.
Complementing both the four-channel and two-channel versions Pioneer’s DDJ-SX controller, the DDJ-SB is touted by Pioneer as a more compact and portable version of its larger siblings. It nevertheless features the same control over Serato DJ cues, loops, FX and samples and will arrive with a key feature that Pioneer call “the industry’s first Filter Fade”. This supposedly assists novice DJs in creating seamless mixes by adding a high pass filter to the crossfader to enable smoother transitions with just one control.
Like the DDJ-SX, the DDJ-SB features a built-in sound card, eight performance pads, two low latency aluminium jog wheels, and independent high and low pass filter dials for each channel. In keeping with the entry level nature of the controller, the DDJ-SB will ship with the Serato DJ Intro software, and will be supported by a dedicated website which assists users through set up, preparing, mixing, and recording, and more advanced DJ skills such as scratching. Pioneer will release the DDJ-SB controller in January 2014 at a price of 249€/£199.
