Emotional Response excavate Brain Machine remixes for upcoming release
Steve Moore, Majuere and Spectral Empire feature on forthcoming 12″ The Lost Machine.
Despite the short-lived Emotional Relish label reaching its conclusion, Stuart Leath’s Emotional empire still features three distinct strands (Response, Rescue and Especial), with a seemingly endless supply of material in the pipeline that means it’s often hard to keep tabs on their output. Having just issued Musiccargo’s second album, and with an EP of Black Deer material from William Burnett due later this month, Emotional Response’s forthcoming ninth release makes for intriguing reading. Emerging in late 2008, Brain Machine was the work of two known producers collaborating under an alias with their self-titled album of lovingly crafted krautrock and abstract electronics released on the excellent, and now sadly defunct, label THISISNOTANEXIT.
Later revealed to be the work of Jon Tye, one half of Seahawks and founder of Lo Recordings, and Italian producer Guido Zen, Brain Machine went on to release music for Spanish label Titan’s Halo, but plans from THISISNOTANEXIT to release a complimentary EP of remixes to Brain Machine never came to fruition before the label folded in 2012. Emotional Rescue have now stepped in to issue these remixes for a forthcoming 12″ entitled The Lost Machine which features Steve Moore, German duo Unit 4, Majuere (aka Zombi percussionist A.E. Paterra) and the Spectral Empire pairing of Black Merlin and Land Of Light’s Kyle Martin – you can stream the Steve Moore remix in full below.
Emotional Response will release The Lost Machine by Brain Machine in late November.
