Sawf returns to Perc Trax with Menete
Shadowy industrial techno producer Sawf delivers a new type of power electronics to Perc Trax – preview here.
Since debuting on Perc Trax debut with the 2009 Vavasofa EP, Sawf has procured a commanding reputation in the field of rigid, broken beat and hard-hitting industrial sonics to become an integral cog in the Perc Trax machine, responsible for the label’s debut artist album in 2011’s Flaws in 2011. Due out in mid-July, Menete will be the anonymous Greek producer’s seventh EP for Perc Trax, and his third in 2013.
The title track sees Sawf break away his usual slamming techno unrhythms, opting for Whitehouse-styled power electronics with flashes of Nitzer Ebb influences, while “Toolio” and “Diin” do see Sawf return to his accustomed sound, it also comes tinged with an early ’90s EBM aesthetic. Perc Trax have also employed Japanese production behemoth and Semantica affiliated act Yuji Kondo – also known as Ducerey Ada Nexino and one half of the Steven Porter project – to give Sawf’s “Menete” a typically ferocious reconstruction.
