Peaking Lights’ Aaron Coyes returns for No Label duty

Stream Leisure Connection’s forthcoming release for Rush Hour’s No Label series in full.

Having graced the No Label series overseen by Rush Hour distribution with a triplet of edits earlier this year, Peaking Lights co-founder Aaron Coyes will return as part of Leisure Connection next month. The two track 12” sees Coyes once again on the buttons with Nate Archer, with the pair having previously enjoyed a fruitful co-existence as Rahdunes, releasing numerous albums of psychedelically inclined experimental electronics with occasionally contentious track titles.

Together again as Leisure Connection, both “Jungle Dancing” and “Wave Riding” retain the psychedelic nature of Coyes and Archer’s previous work but marry it to more driving, proto house rhythmics. In the case of the former, the pair start in quite simplistic terms with a thick arpeggiating bassline and gradually introduce a succession of rhythmic elements without losing sight of the groove. By comparison, the thirteen minute “Wave Riding” operates in dubbier terrain, less concerned with forward momentum and more interested in unfurling its full arsenal of glistening synthetics over the tubby motorik beat.
