Al Tourettes is Second Storey
Al Tourettes will become Second Storey for a forthcoming release on Fabric’s Houndstooth imprint.
Otherwise known as Bristol-based producer Alec Storey, Al Tourettes has been producing his singular line of electro and breakbeat informed bass music since 2006, releasing on Apple Pips, Baselogic, Sneaker Social Club and Will Saul’s Aus Music on a collaboration with fellow Bristolian Appleblim. His first release for Fabric’s Houndstooth label sees the producer draw a line under the first phase of his production career, with the introduction of the appropriately named Second Storey moniker.
Like fellow Houndstooth artist House Of Black Lanterns – who was formerly known as King Cannibal – Storey’s output under this new name sees something of a shift in style, one that fits in nicely with Houndstooth’s focus on genre-bending artists. Although still noticeably twitchy, the sound of Second Storey on the forthcoming four-trackĀ Margosa Heights EP is considerably fuller and larger in scale than that of Al Tourettes; the modular gurgles of opener “Arpy Gargles” givie way to a sweeping bass vista, “Still Seas / Just Mortal” are filled with the kind of bass wobbles worthy of Objekt’s “Cactus”, and “Hebridean Mind Tours” displays an undeniably sprawling cinematic quality.
Houndstooth will release Margosa Heights by Second Storey on 12″ and digital formats on June 24 and July 1 respectively.
