Tim Hecker, OPN, Julia Holter and more confirmed for Unsound 2012

Unsound, one of Europe’s leading festivals focusing on the outer fringes of electronic music, has unveiled details for its 10th event, set to take place in Krakow in October.

Oneohtrix Point Never, aTelecine (the dark ambient project featuring former pornographic actress Sasha Grey), Tim Hecker, Julia Holter (pictured above), V/VM (aka Leyland Kirby) and Lustmord and Biosphere have all been confirmed for the event. The festival’s website has revealed that this year’s showcase will revolve around a loose them of “THE END”, although the full direction of this concept remains unclear. The initial line-up announcement is typically adventurous affair, with the TRINITY collaboration between Lustmord and Biosphere commissioned by festival organisers.

The festival, launched in Poland in 2003, is held in increasingly high regard in electronic music circles and now hosts a sister event in New York. A statement on the festival’s website gave us a clue of what to expect from the full line-up: “To mark our 10th birthday, we’ll bring back some of our favorite artists who have played over the years, quite a few presenting special projects on a large scale. There will also be compelling world debuts, label showcases and other delights shaped by innovative and extreme programming that has become Unsound’s trademark for both its Krakow and New York events. To highlight the importance of New York in the development of Unsound, there will also be a high number of artists from America.”

Unsound 2012 will run from October 14-21. More details and tickets can be found on the Unsound website here.
