Planet E announces Paperclip People reissue

Planet E have announced details of a remastered 2xLP version of Carl Craig‘s classic album, The Secret Tapes of Dr. Eich, originally released under the Paperclip People alias in 1996.

One of a multitude of monikers Craig flitted between in the 1990s, The Secret Tapes of Dr. Eich collected a number of tracks previously released on 12″ singles. Craig’s aliases can be hard to pin down at the best of times, but rather┬áthan the mechanoid Detroit techno of his 69 alias, Paperclip People was an outlet for some of his slightly rawer, even housier productions, perhaps best characterised by the looping bassline of the classic “Throw” which eventually became up a staple of LCD Soundsystem’s live sets.

Now Planet E have announced a 2LP vinyl reissue of the album, which will be fully remastered, perhaps in response to a comment on the original album’s Discogs entry which makes claims of poor sound quality on some international pressings of the album.

There is no firm release date as yet, so we’d advise you to keep an eye on Juno for updates.
