Win: Tickets to Society with DJ Pierre
We have kindly been offered two tickets to give away to the next Society warehouse bash, headlined by none other than the man credited as being the inventor of acid house, DJ Pierre.
London-based promoters Society have been making it their mission to recreate events that hark straight back to the early days of acid house, using installations, projections and artwork from the era, as well as booming Funktion One sound, smoke machines, lasers and original artwork influenced by the likes of Keith Haring and Bill Drummond. Previous events have featured the likes of Marshall Jefferson and Robert Owens as well as kindred spirits from the contemporary era such as Jackmaster and Andy Blake, but with the appearance of DJ Pierre at their next party, they’ve snagged a true legend.
Going under a host of other aliases, including Phuture, Phortune, Photon Inc and Pierre’s Phantasy Club, DJ Pierre is widely credited with creating the acid house sound, releasing the seminal Acid Tracks 12″ on the legendary Trax label in 1987. His influence stretches far and wide, with Glasgow based Numbers re-releasing his seminal track “Mystery Girl” last year, introducing him to an audience unlikely to be alive during acid house’s heyday.
We’ve got one pair of tickets to give away to a lucky eader, and to be in with a chance of winning, simply send your answer to this simple question to competitions@juno.co.uk by midday on Thursday, February 9, with the subject heading “Society”: What Roland manufactured device is used to create the squelchy acid house bassline?
