Watch: Aphex Twin live in Poland

Richard James aka Aphex Twin was commissioned to write a piece of music for this year’s European Culture Congress in Poland, the fruits of which are now available to digest online.

According to a post on the accompanying YouTube video, James chose to “control a 48 piece string section and a 24 strong choir by remote control, using MIDI controllers, lots of headphones and some remote visual cues” for the performance, which took place in Wroclaw in September.

The result is, unsurprisingly, fascinating (and at times hair raising), with the performance featuring the AUKSO chamber orchestra of the City of Tychy OCTAVA ensemble and live visuals from Weirdcore.
