John Talabot to release debut album on Permanent Vacation
Barcelona based producer John Talabot will release his debut album through Permanent Vacation later this year.
Speaking to Tim Sweeney on Beats In Space earlier this week after a series of NYC gigs, Talabot said his album was “dark” and contained “electronic short cuts” based primarily on analogue sounds rather than samples. Fellow Spaniards Pional and Delorean both appear on the album, which is due out later this year.
It was also revealed that Talabot had recently finished a remix for Tigersushi don Joakim, as well as contributing a track to a forthcoming Permanent Vacation compilation which is due for release this summer.
The prodigiously talented producer, who likes to keep his true identity a closely guarded secret, first announced his talent with a stunning remix of Aufgang’s “Channel 7” in 2009. Since then he’s remixed the likes of Tahiti 80, Jacob Korn, Teengirl Fantasy, Mario & Vidis and Shit Robot, and released solo EPs for Permanent Vacation and hometown label Hivern. Most recently our ears were treated to the blissfully summer filled Families EP for London imprint Young Turks – check out our full review on that EP here.
Stay tuned for more exciting John Talabot news in the coming days.
