Tensnake’s In The House

In an intriguing turn of events Defected have announced details of the next edition of their long running In The House compilaton series, with German producer Marco Niemierski, aka Tensnake, at the helm for a double CD mix.

Defected have already licensed “Coma Cat”, Tensnake’s ubiquitous homage to Jellybean Benetiz for a single release backed with remixes from Treasure Fingers and Round Table Knights and the track has subsequently become somewhat of a hit on the White Isle with celebrity spinner David Guetta taking a shine to it.

Having become enamoured with Tensnake’s distinctive production style that leans on the classic 90s house sound, Defected have tapped him up to provide the latest In The House effort which has a suitably attractive disco tinged tracklist across both CDs and is his first commercially released mix album.

Across the first CD your ears are treated to the vintage boogie of  Carol Williams interspersed with tracks and remixes by disco dudes du jour like Tiger & Woods, Kaine, Lindstrom & Prins Thomas, Tuff City Kids and Hot Toddy. A nifty combination of the accapella from Osunlade’s soulful “My Reflection” and “Carbonated” from Mount Kimbie opens the second CD, acts as a perfect demonstration of Tensnake’s willingness to move away from the 4/4 party flex of the first CD. Further deep moments are provided by Ame, DJ Sprinkles and Basic Soul Unit and the mix naturally includes “Coma Cat” and ends on an iconic 90s note courtesty of Phase II.
