Featured DJ Chart: Efdemin

Efdemin (aka Phillip Sollmann) made a stunning return to the production fold this year with his Chicago LP, the follow up his eponymous 2007 debut. Released on the generally excellent Hamburg imprint Dial, it was a fine exploration of jazz, minimalism, deep house, and, erm, Bart Simpson samples. We caught up with the German producer to find out what was in his record bag this month, and were highly impressed with what we found. Actress, Moodymann, Jus-Ed and more feature…

1. Soul Capsule – Seekers (Villalobos remix) (Trelik)

“Trelik is finally back with a great package. The original is funky and the Villalobos remix is amazing. It feels like it´s going to be a classic like so many other Treliks before.”

2. Orlando Voorn – Sub 037 (Subject Detroit)

“I was blown away by track two of this EP. DJ Bone is one of my all time favourite producers and at least one Subject Detroit record is always in my bag. This upcoming release is simply huge as it features another hero of mine: Orlando Voorn.”

3. Moody aka Moodymann – Ol’ Dirty Vinyl (12″) (KDJ)

““It’s Too Late For You And Me” blows my mind whenever I play it. The combination of the dirty bassline and the beautiful vocals are simply crazy like most of the stuff off “Freaky MF #1″.”

4. DJ Jus Ed vs. DJ QU – Real House Music (Underground Quality)

“The truth is written on the label: “buy two copies, you will need them!” DJ QU´s “Runwitit” is on heavy rotation since Ed gave this bomb to me in april. UQ 4 life!”

“Another subtle bomb from The Mole, a brilliant producer and DJ. At the moment I have three records from him in my DJ bag….”

6. Franco Cangelli – Raw Emotion (Russ Gabriel Mix) (Self Defence)

“Great EP with two outstanding mixes. Russ Gabriel does the melodic version which is great for later hours while Dan Curtin delivers a huge techno bomb for the peak time. I’ve been playing both sides a lot recently.”

7. Oracy – Bass Mood (Mojuba Germany)

“Panorambar went mad when I played this one at my Chicago release party. Oracy is always a sure shot. Also be sure to check out his remix for Jeremiah on Balance Alliance.”

8. Actress – Splazsh (Honest Jon’s)

“This is first electronic album in years that I listen to in the kitchen and the park. A far out, mindblowing classic. “Let´s Fly” is a track from outta space.”

9. Brawther – Asteroids & Stardust (Burst mix) (Alliance US)

“Timeless music here from Brawther. Nobody can resist. It’s a lovelee day!”

10. Jitterbug – Beaten Trax EP (Uzuri)

“Same here. So deep it hurts. Uzuri is run by my friend Lakuti who will celebrate Sud Electronic’s 10th anniversary on October 2nd in London. As Boo Williams is the headliner for this party I am already totally nervous playing alongside with him…Oh my God!”
