Aeroplane reveal album plans
Belgian disco duo Aeroplane – aka Vito De Luca and Stephen Fasano – have announced the details of the much anticipated debut album, which will be released this September and titled We Can’t Fly.
The pair met in 2001 at Vito’s record store in Brussels which Vito, where Stefan was a regular customer. After releasing three singles on Eskimo Records (“Caramellas”, “Pacific Air Race” and “Whispers”), the pair set about remixing the who’s who of the disco and synth pop world: Cut Copy, Lindstrom, MGMT, Grace Jones, Sebastien Tellier and, most memorably, Friendly Fires, all got the Aeroplane treatment.
They were recently selected to compile the landmark 500th BBC Essential Mix, in which they took the opportunity to premiere the album’s title track. We Can’t Fly is slated for a September 6 release on Wall Of Sound.
UK readers be sure to catch the flying Belgians at one of their two remaining DJ dates this month. Their energetic sets touch on classic Italo, flavour of the moment electro pop and even some Belgian New Beat.
