23B (Miles & Josh Law) - "Lost Frequency"
Zuul - "Iloveyou"
Review: With releases like Psychedelic Renaissance in their portfolio, you can be sure the Real Interactions label crew are committed to taking your brain for one hell of a ride with their records. The fourth release on the Leeds-based label is a split affair which kicks off with the intriguing pst-trance meets UK bass flex of Toke's 'Random Action'. Nico Lampariello taps into an electro framework while keeping some of those freaky synths on hand for the trance-y vibe hanging over the label. Miles & Josh Law make up 23B, a partnership resulting in moody, dramatic tackle for maximum mind control, while Zuul (Burge) completes the set with the playfully creepy acid cut 'Iloveyou'.

Review: Fundamental Holland completes its 10th anniversary celebrations with a 10th and final instalment of this 808 Box series. It is once again limited to just 250 copies and once again packs a real electro punch across seven cuts. There is spooky tackle from T Error, cosmic adventure from MagikBitum and blistering synth textures from Digitizer on 'Radioactive Waves.' The pace picks up on Kitbuilders's high speed workout 'Bodies' before slowing to a predatory crawl on 'Marime' by DVS NME. Noise&Noise closes out with the wild melodic workout that is 'Eating Theists.'

Review: Following the deliciously titled single 'The Goat & The Night', NVST unveils her full Silence Itself Is Noise EP in all its genre-melting technicolour glory. Ranging from blissful moments of ambience to visceral shades of electro and techno, highlights include the crisp body funk of 'Monster Of Business', the acidic swagger and off-beat wonk of 'Tiny Mistakes Feeling Hot' and the woozy Weatherall-like charm of 'Silence Itself Is Noise'. Pray silence please!

Midnight Treat (5:49)
Are You Sure (Indy Jane mix) (5:45)
Vicious (6:19)
Bloodline (5:47)
Review: The Paris based Velvet Spirit releases its fourth EP. After appearing on their third releases, the label had to have a release specifically dedicated to Numero 6 solely. If you are looking for something different then check out the head turning 'Midnight Treat'. Electro like you may have not heard. The Indy Jane mix of 'Are You Sure' is particularly nasty (in all the right ways), while on the second side, 'Vicious' is a clever and unique take on tech house that injects a bit of electro in it while 'Bloodline' is the smoothest cut of the lot. Quite eerie in a new wave way, you have to hand it to Numero 6 for making something quite unique.

Amalgamate (6:56)
E-Break (6:02)
Southern Exposure (8:00)
Review: There is plenty of psychedelic colour to this latest EP from the Spanish Baffling Noise label. It appears to be the first release from Numbat who has a love of long, winding, slow-motion synth patterns that weave their way in and out of deep, dubby, stylish drums. That is certainly the case on 'Southern Exposure' (Hybrid Man remix) while 'Amalgamate' is leggy house music with happy melodies and 'E-Break' then heads off through the cosmos on solar winds, trippy melodies and warm drums. 'Southern Exposure' is a chubby, dubby, sludgy techno head wrecker in its original form.

Brice Kelly - "Beings Of Alpha" (5:18)
Brice Kelly - "If You Don't Think Like Us" (5:17)
Brice Kelly - "Powers That Be" (4:57)
Review: Gladio Operations is on the cusp if hitting double figures and over the course of its first few releases has explored a fine range of electro. This latest transmission from Noamm and Brice Kelly is a second volume in their Split Machine series. The opener from Noamm is all caustic synth modulations and sweet metal snares over a rugged beat. 'Scientific Technological Device' that has more lashing metal textures and bright, visceral synths while 'Verruckter Wissenschaftler' carries on with the same aesthetic but has a more raw and direct groove. Brice Kelly takes care of the flip side with a more lithe and celestial take on electro that provides a great yin to the yang of the A-side.

Small Moves (5:02)
No Way Back (4:49)
Go 2 Bed (5:03)
Vegetarian At The BBQ (6:41)
All Roads Lead To Here (7:58)
Review: Fred Shepherd has been laying down thick slabs of electro for the past six years under the No Moon alias, taking in labels like X-Kalay, Echo Vortex, Craigie Knowes and Church. Now he's landing on Mechatronica with five new works, leading in with the compression chamber sonics of 'No Way Back' which doesn't need to roll fast to make its imposing presence felt. 'Small Moves' takes the interstellar elevator in pursuit of its own bruising intentions, while 'Go 2 Bed' locks into a more familiar mode of machine funk for the mid-tempo massive. 'Vegetarian At The BBQ' keeps things pinging and ponging atop those hard-ass drums, and 'All Roads Lead To Hear' winds things up with a rapid, bleepy selection for when the night wants to get a touch more delirious.

Review: No Hype Crew is a new collaboration project between two of Source Materials main stays - Nonentity and Ole Mic Odd. United by their love of hardware, the four tracks here have been created through bouncing ideas and building on live jams between their studios in Aberdeen, Scotland and Los Angeles. This one dives deep into the emotive side of electro whilst still holding onto that raw edge you would expect from both artists solo work.

Swooh - "The Streets" (5:40)
High Fidelity - "Say My Name" (4:17)
Juicy Selekta - "Stackin' Up!" (5:51)
Review: The fourth record from the French electro label Perfusion. So far, each release features multiple artists showcasing their own brand of the next generation electro. Nite Fleit's 'Off Radar' is an audio attack on your senses, a sometimes abrasive, crunchy, raw, heavy bass stormer is not for the faint of heart. Swooh's 'The Streets' also has an over-arching sci-fi sound to it revelling in the history of electro. For the second side, High Fidelity's 'Say My Name' adds a rave-punk attitude to the mixture of electroclash, gabber and techno. The EP rounds out with a breakcore romp with Juicy Selekta's 'Stackin' Up!' that features some hip-hop samples. If electro-shock was a genre, you'd point people to this track. Intense.

Review: Ninechecker is an electro producer from Ontario, Canada, who releases with only the biggest and best: Orson Records, Delsin, and Central Processing Unit to name but a small few. Adding to his extensive releases belt, he delivers four stone cold new ones for electro-techno-breakbeat Orson. With its name maybe nodding to the generative creation of fantasy landscapes in 3D CGI software, highlights like 'Magagun' convey a weird kind of horrific calculator-nightmare (bloop freakouts aplenty) between the beats, all going to make this a stellarly exciting EP.

A Stantz - "Vags Ande" (6:25)
Cracktros - "Deosil" (6:45)
Review: Dead Dreams Don't Die Vol 1 is the first release from the new label Half Grand Records, which we're told will be focused on no-frills, raw talent electronic music. And so it proves on this split EP which brings together a diverse bunch of names. Nimam kick off with the jungliest breaks and fizzing future energy of 'Cilinger Slobs' before Jon Doppler mangels synth modulations and more airy breakbeats on his 'Feel Like.' On the flip, A Stantz brings the darkness with raw, frazzled electro stylings on 'Vags Ande' and Cracktros closes out with 'Deosil' which is a deeper techno cut with star-gazing synth leads.

Car Sex (7:19)
Review: Round Qube Music has tapped up Niki Il B for a new EP that explores a mystic take on cosmic electro. 'Ry01' is all eerie lines and punchy broken beats with supple acid squelch in the middle. 'Waiting' then mixes up more gorging acid with hurried drum loops and slow motion ambient pads that make for a fine vibe before 'Lo Spazio' has a heavier low end. The bass here is spanned and the distant pads unsettling. 'Car Sex' closes things in brilliant fashion with suspensory pads and loopy drums that ride up and down next to meandering pads.

Review: Mahres welcomes back Nein Niemals for Geometrie Fermee, a fourth EP which this time finds him showcasing his love of breaks. 'Get Out Of My Head' is a lively opener with old school rave energy and chopped up vocals while 'Chemical Lobotomy' has a deeper feel but no less energy. 'Diagnostic & Statistical Manual' is an ambient interlude with a real sense of tension then 'Lost In A Box' picks up the pace again with thrilling drum breaks that are lively and nimble and 'Neuroleptic 23mg' closes with a slow, dark crawl. Mixing and co-production on this one has come from Chris Key, with some nice fresh art too. This 12" is limited to just 200 copies, so do not sleep.

Cyborg Dance (5:30)
Review: The origins of American act Newcleus lay in a 1977 Brooklyn DJ collective known as Jam-On Productions, including Ben 'Cozmo D' Cenac, Monique Angevin and her brother Pete - all teenagers and still in high school. The foursome named their group Newcleus as a result of the coming together of their families. Originally released on T.K. Records' Miami bass/freestyle subsidiary Sunnyview in 1985, "Space Is The Place" is an underground classic to those in the know. With its obvious robotic influences from the early '80s Bronx breakbeat sound, to the funk and synth pop crossover of "Cyborg Dance' on the flip - this is a true zeitgeist of one of the most exciting times in electronic music's history.

Confused Beats (6:19)
Confusion (instrumental) (7:12)
Confusion (Rough mix) (7:43)
Review: Although the single that followed it, 'Blue Monday', remains New Order's most significant and influential club cut, 'Confusion' is every bit as impactful. It was recorded with Arthur Baker and John Robie, and mixed by John 'Jellybean' Benitez, and saw the Manchester band turn their hand to the then brand-new sound of New York electro. As this re-mastered reissue proves, the track still sounds superb, offering a unique mix of the band's usual hazy, post Joy Division guitars, evocative Bernard Summer vocals and ultra-tough beats from Baker and Robie. As it did first time around, the full-length mix (A1) comes backed by two dub-style club revisions ('Confusion (Instrumental)' and the sparse, effects-laden B-boy classic 'Confused Beats'), as well as the demo version (the 'Rough Mix').

Review: Dublin born, Berlin based New Members mints a new self-titled label with a lovely two-track 12". The A-side features 'On A Wave' which manages to marry super sweet melodies with a subtle trance energy and waves of euphoria over a nice quick and clipped beat. It's new-age retro yet cosmically futuristic with clean and serene production that simply fills you with good vibrations. 'Doomed' then rides a superb broken beat that is slathered with more soupy chords and swirling ambient pads. It's direct yet dreamy and dynamic and has already got us hooked on this new name and ready for more.

Review: NYC experimental producer Neud Photo is up next on EYA's Lonewolf series with a killer five-tracker, 'Echoes'. The EP brilliantly oscillates between various inspirations with a strong machine sound, making for an incredible and haunting journey into electro, new beat, minimal and techno. Beginning with a bang on the compellingly haunting, riveting 'Replica', we hear myriad cowbells, FM "ow"s, and future-gothic vocal samples abound; the track harks deeper dancefloor explorations to come, from the entrancing call-and-response, push-pull structure of 'Lotus Eaters' to the brittler, rippling, more skeletal coldwave closer 'Flash Pressure'.

Review: Parallel Universe is a label into its second release here, following up a terrific debut with contributions from some of the scene's most ascendant names. On its second missive, they've tapped Antwerp's Nathan Boost who contributes the trippy, boompty, minimal house groove of 'Cloning Sequence', while Irishman Dylan Forbes serves up a throwback to early '90s rave on the breakbeat-infused euphoria of 'Ephemeral Ecstasy'. Elsewhere, Luke Mazzeri aka ModEx takes you to a higher state of consciousness on the early techno sound of 'Standardised Retro Augmentation' and finally E00's 'Birdwatching' is a mish-mash of tropes from classic house, IDM and trance.

The Hekate EP opens up with the UK bass influenced title track, leading into the contorted drum'n'bass whirlwind of 'Kimat'. On the flip, 'Ovinnik' lends a change of tempo in the form of a meditative deep dubstep joint and 'Inugami' closes it out all guns blazing with a heads-down techno stomper.

Review: Munir Nadir has been breaking through in the past few years with essential releases on 4Plae, Nuts On Board and Outcast Planet. Now he's minting a new label called Odd One Tape out of Italy, and bringing his playful, synth-rich sound with him. There's a nod to Italo and 80s electro in the sampling and throbbing, analogue groove of 'Rhythmistic', while 'Bass Jam' tips more towards the early 00s electro house boom a la Tiefschwarz and Tomas Andersson. 'Urban Whispers' has a more jackin' flavour with some low down sub freakiness thrown in for good measure, and 'Binary Technologies' brings the heat on the B2 with a powerful arpeggio and hard-slapping drums.

Review: Over the past few years Nick Gynn has been whipping up a storm with his loose and limber strain of trance-inflected club melters. Now he's landing in exactly the right spot to kick off 2022 alongside the good folk at EYA Records. Minting their Lonewolf series specifically, the 2000 & Something EP deals in maximal acid wrigglers with a playful but dark-tinted edge which should go down very well with the buoyant wave of psychedelic party people. Watch out for the electro stylings of 'Ritmos Obscuros', which closes out the 12" in body-popping fashion.

Yu - "Another Call Me Bad" (6:48)
Gianluca Pellerano - "Alienated Theater" (6:32)
NND - "Incomingtransmission" (6:29)
Review: Cimedirapax opts to welcome no fewer than four artists to its fourth EP, and they all take one track each. There is plenty going on with MoYA81's 'The Way We Like' from electro crash drums to wonky Italo melodies to withering sci-fi disco effects. Yu's 'Another Call Me Bad' rides on cascading synth arps that never let you settle for a moment and Gianluca Pellerano's 'Alienated Theater' then explores slamming tech house with electro style melodies bringing a cinematic vibe. NND cuts the most loose of the lot with sheet metal snares and wispy synths, prying bass and crisp tech funk drums on 'Incomingtransmission.' Innovative stuff all round.

Review: Night Defined Recordings is an Austrian electronic music label based in Salzburg that has featured previous releases by Spanish veteran Eduardo de la Calle, Romanian upstart Serb and label chief Juergen Vonbank. It now presents the second edition in the NDVAX various artist series, featuring Finnish producer Mesak (Klakson/Cleaning Tapes) with the hard minimalism of 'Palek', as well as Erfurt, Germany's Mary Yalex with the unsettling ambient house of 'Running Out Of Time' and Workshop affiliated Even Tuell with the dusty twilight dub of 'In Circles' delivered in typically understated fashion.

Review: The New Year has brought with it an influx of many new labels that are all eager to get your attention. This one, BinarySound, is well deserving of it as it offers up this cosmic tech house exploration courtesy of Kawaii San and Nathan Boost. It is San who opens up with his retro-future and fulsome cut 'Roller Derby' before getting a little deeper and bringing some subtle acid to 'What U Got.' Boost shows a different side to tech house with 'Whale Stuff' having a more playful feel and wispy pads that shine bright. 'Swingy Swang' closes out with clipped, kinetic tech funk and garage percussive patterns that are super nice.

Review: Voodoos & Taboos unveil their anticipated new LPs series with Human Aventura, the debut self-titled album from the promising Corsican producer. An unusual dance release modelling itself on electro and chiptune, but finding itself somewhere in the hidden interstice between them, this is a self-described "libidinous Mediterranean spoken disco" album, giving elements of Telex or Kraftwerk, albeit with a progressive bent best heard on pithy cuts 'Solid State Scouter'. Not one to be missed for those who like it intelligent, fidgety and FMmy.
