Review: Egyptian Lover is celebrating 40 years of releasing music in 2024 AMD 'Emotions' is the first track from his upcoming album titled 1987. It's a classic 80s inspired west-coast electro style cut - a style that Egyptian Lover is pretty much responsible for creating, harking back to his classic material like 'Egypt, Egypt' and 'I Need a Freak', his use of the Roland 808 along with Kraftwerk and hip-hop influences making the artist synonymous with the origin of the electro sound. Also included is 'Emotional' which is the instrumental version of the title track. For the B-Side 'Dirty Passionate Yell' is featured again, along with the instrumental version (Dirty Music). Review: Robert Witschakowski has been a man on an electro mission (as well as many other side mission, to be really quite honest) for as long as we can remember. His furtherment of electro knows no bounds and it has often come in association with Dutch label Clone and its offshoots, though here he has his They Arrive EP reissued by fellow Dutch label Creme Organization. It landed first back in 2011 but has aged like fine wine and sounds as good as ever - there are a mix of creepy and atmospheric pieces, sick dancefloor rhythms and plenty more to enjoy here.

It is only a young label but Space Trace can already consider us fans. This new double pack The Wandering Mind is its third release and is another doozy. Eric OS is the man with the music and whoever has done the artwork also deserves plenty of credit. Across 11 cuts, the producer explores minimal, tech and house with a deft melodic touch and knack for pumping grooves full of warmth, heart and soul. The likes of 'Sonic Wave' with its bumping kicks will enliven any club, and 'Am I Awake Or In My Mind' then taps into some of the glossy disco energy of Metro Area's self-titled classic. When things slow down a touch such as on 'Moments In Time' they remain just as cosmic and captivating and harder moments like 'Freaky Circles' ensure things never grow stale or predictable.
