  1. Break & Kyo - "Past North" (4:31)
  2. DJ Marky - "Hard Hands (Late Night)" (4:13)
  3. Ill Truth & Satl - "In Your Soul" (feat Charli Brix - Lenzman remix) (5:17)
  4. Total Science & FD - "3 Way" (4:54)
Review: One look at who's involved here should raise any drum and bass head's eyebrows. All genre A-listers, it's one of those release schedule entries that's guaranteed to get everyone excited, and thankfully the pudding is just as tasty as those ingredients. Break & Kyo lead the charge with 'Past North', a summertime anthem-in-the-making opening on acoustic guitar chords that wouldn't sound weird on a Me One record. Definitely one for festivals, boxfresh percussion ensures it fully fires off once the poppier elements temporarily subside. That said, DJ Marky's 'Hard Hands' trumps it for crisp drum work, delivering some typically exotic vibes. Ill Truth and Satl's 'In Your Soul', or at least its Lenzman remix, keeps the sexy and smooth warmth alive, with '3 Way' closing out on a dub-influenced tip courtesy of Total Science and FD.

  2. Icicle - "Dust Me Off" (4:32)
  3. Proxima - "Retrace" (4:33)
  4. Icicle & Proxima - "Deep Dreaming" (4:12)
Review: Icy's Entropy imprint hits its second outing and he's brought along his equally talented and uncompromising cousin Proxima for the ride. "Outer Planes" (with ex Pendulum MC Ben Verse) kickstarts the adventure with grainy, scratchy bass while Icy goes solo for "Dust Me Off" with a lolloping, technoid hypnosis jam and Proxima gets squelchy and savage on "Retrace". "Deep Dreaming" maintains balance with a final colab between the two... And it does so with serious wind tunnel harmonic drama. Feel the burn.

Reaching The Source (coloured vinyl 12")
Cat: HORO 009. Rel: 30 Apr 13
  1. Reaching The Source (feat Poppy Roberts)
  2. Trthys
  3. Talia
Review: Samurai's highly collectable Red Seal series continues with a mission to Manchester. Home to key players such as Skittles, Dub Phizix and DRS, the 'Mani' scene just keeps on giving. This three track 12" is a perfect example, as we find fellow native Indigo joining the dots between three genres with ease and engaging production skill. "Reaching The Source" is a blissed out Autonomic workout that's ideal for both headphones or early doors, "Trthys" is a much slower, sludgy bass 4/4 workout that sits somewhere between Dirtybird and Wookie while "Talia" ends us on a soft, soulful note. A lullaby on marbled vinyl: does life get much better than this?

Absolute Zero (1-sided 12")
Cat: INFRALTD 001. Rel: 09 Jul 18
  1. Absolute Zero (5:08)
Review: Pow: another ageless dub from J Majik's personal vaults, "Absolute Zero" was one of the many unreleased space expeditions under Jamie Spratling's Innervisions alter ego. Composed around 94/5 and galvanised with incredible drums that stand up to (and beyond) today's production standards, this one track damager lives in its own atmosphere. Unapologetic, evocative and colder than a night with the ex on Pluto. Visionary.

  1. Strange Attractor (4:22)
  2. Strange Attractor (Sully remix) (4:47)
Review: With praise for his wonderfully leftfield but formidably floor-friendly "Ever Orbit" EP on Exit still ringing in his ears, Alex Godoy AKA Itoa pitches up on Italian imprint Beat Machine Records. Appearing on a 7" single - a rarity for a D&B release - "Strange Attractor" sees Godoy wrap indigenous Amazonian flute lines, madcap electronics, metallic percussion noises and creepy strings around a punchy, revivalist jungle rhythm. Long-serving bass-head Sully provides the flipside remix, stripping the cut back to the bare bones (think booming bass, sharply edited mid'90s jungle beats, and those haunting flute style melodies) with impressive results.

No Escape (12")
Cat: PSYCHODYNAMIK 07. Rel: 19 Sep 18
  1. Le Peuple De L'Herbe - "No Escape" (feat Uk Apache) (6:02)
  2. Tomawok - "Party Time" (feat Perfect Giddimani - Kursiva remix) (4:06)
  3. Tomawok - "My Sound" (Benny Page remix) (3:45)
  4. Isaac Maya & Mekha - "Bad Inna Dance" (feat Ranking Diximal) (6:17)
Review: PsychoQuake offshoot PsychoDynamik has long specialized in compilation style EPs brimming with ragga-fired jungle business and ruffneck drum and bass rollers. That's what you get on the sub-label's sizzling seventh release. Ragga toaster UK Apache rhymes at breathtaking speed over Le Peuple De L'Herbe's hot-stepping, dub-fired D&B riddim on punchy opener "No Escape", while fellow mic man Perfect Giddimani makes a similarly positive impression on Kursiva's reggae-drum and bass remix of Tomawok's jaunty "Party Time". Flip for Benny Page's more jungle-tinged - but similarly minded - remix of Tomawok's "My Sound" and the fantastically raw, rolling jungle/dub fusion of Isaac Maya and Mekha's "Bad Inna Dance".

  1. Total Science - "Nosher" (The Sauce remix) (5:06)
  2. Zero T & Phase - "Talk To Me" (4:56)
  3. Total Science & Script - "Devils Gate" (5:13)
  4. Ill Truth & SATL - "Hot Data" (5:57)
Review: Oh gosh. Total Science ante up for the summer with this exceptional V/A EP on their CIA imprint. Kicking off with a crucial new remix of their classic "Nosher" by their new hybrid gang comprising of themselves, DLR and Hydro, full breadth and variation abounds as we dip into the gilded soul of Zero T & Phase's "Talk To Me", the gnarled grizzles and dubby danger of their own "Devils Gate" with Scar member Script and the grand finale; a heavyweight purring roller from two of the most respected newcomers in the game right now: Ill Truth and SATL. Each one a persy for different chapters of the night, any further information is classified.

  1. Ulterior Motive - "Trip Hammer" (4:58)
  2. Quadrant, Iris, Ulterior Motive - "Intuition" (6:04)
Review: Guidance strike again! Two sides, two vibes: first up the label bossmen Ulterior Motive continue their ripping vein of form with the weapon's grade stepper "Trip Hammer" that hits with serious space around every gritty funk element. Flip for a hook-up with dynamic US duo Quadrant & Iris as we're taken down a wormhole of dark delights at a white knuckle pace that doesn't let up. Huge shouts to Guidance right here.
