Cat: RAMM 197. Rel: 19 Oct 15
  1. Downtown (feat Simon Franks) (4:38)
  2. Power (4:10)
Review: Following his "All Four One" EP at the start of the year, Frankee returns with two more startling shock-outs. "Downtown" shows the Londoner at his softest, most emotional side as Simon Franks delivers a vocodered vocal over an almost trance-like dynamic. Floaty, evocative and rolling, its lighter-raising power is up there with the best work of Sub Focus and Culture Shock. Flip for "Power", a bassline damager with a toxic hook that's reminiscent of Mampi or Dillinja. Benchmark business.

Horns (Gremlinz & Overlook remix) (hand-stamped 1-sided 12")
Cat: DROOGS 001. Rel: 21 Nov 17
  1. Horns (Gremlinz & Overlook remix) (5:59)
Review: One of the most classical calls to arms; Future Cut's genre-defining, life-affirming "Horns" gets the treatment from two of modern jungle's darkest minds Gremlinz and Overlook. Layering up that iconic horn sample with hair-raising, goose-bumping gusto then dropping into a razor sharp two-step, the boys add just the right amount of weight and freshness to a properly unifying anthem. Do not sleep on this one.

  1. Gardna - "See The Vibe" (feat Tiffani Juno - Ed Solo remix) (5:14)
  2. Perfect Giddimani - "Smoked A Spliff" (Jamie Bostron remix) (4:30)
Review: Jungle Cakes aren't letting up right now; spitting out the skankers like tobacco chewers, every release has been a rolling reggae-fused bomb lately. These are no exception; Tiffani Juno's vocal (which has recently sported releases on Digital Soundboy and Kitsune) hit the spot perfectly over Solo's signature blunderbuss bass. Flip for Bostron's horn-heavy twist of Giddimani's weed/Katy Perry homage. Kissable.

Cat: GHST 004. Rel: 09 Feb 16
  1. Blood Brother (6:20)
  2. Brut (6:55)
  3. Structure (bonus track - download)
Review: London label Goldman Records comes forth with their first 12" of 2016 and a fourth round of beat science from G.H.O.S.T. We've been seriously impressed with this unknown production unit's contributions to the Goldman cause thus far, and these two tracks only add to this glowering reputation. Lead cut "Blood Brother" is a broody roller, pairing earthy bass with smartly coiled drums and roots vocal samples resulting in an overall sensation of eeriness. Complementing this, "Brut" showcases the break-moulding talents of G.H.O.S.T., laying them hard over an ethereal backdrop blessed with warm bass and yet more vocal samples suspended in space. Comes as a limited 12" in silk screened sleeve replete with MP3 download code featuring bonus track "Structure"!

  3. Outro (2:19)
  4. Future Music (Legowelt remix) (5:59)
  5. Outro (Fantastic Man remix) (6:31)
Review: Gnork returns to UTTU for his annual DJ Shark adventure. As broken, classically-trained and timeless as ever, this time round he's treating us to three poignant pieces: "Future Music" is a white knuckle ride down early jungle lane with all the breezes and rushes you could ever ask for; "Shroomz" is led by a beautifully filtered harmonic synth tone that is nicely reminiscent of the tunes trippy title while "Outro" brings the comedown fuzz, all lush and languid. Remix-wise Legowelt opens a whole can of crazy and sprays it all over "Future Music" while Fantastic Man flips "Outro" into a pensive piece of creepy 4/4 deepness.

  1. Greenleaf - "A Diffrent Story" (6:51)
  2. Drum Cypha - "Beware Of Falling Objects" (6:00)
  3. Contact Lost - "Snake Pit" (6:08)
Review: Transmute continue their climactic return to form with this hair-raising V/A three-tracker. Hot on the heels of DJ Trax' EP earlier this year, once again it's a powerful document that nods sagely in all jungle directions. Greanleaf takes us back to a Moving Shadow mindset with lush airy breaks and jazzy touches while Drum Cypha unleashes his inner beast with a white knuckle hardcore homage. Finally Contact Lost gets dreamy with a little techno sensibility in the hypnotic chords. The story ain't over yet...

  1. White Gorilla Cult (4:59)
  2. Strategy Of Two Heavens (6:10)
  3. Ujimasa (6:57)
  4. Shinto Muso-Ryu (6:07)
Review: May the clan wars recommence. Hojo Clan founder Shiken Hanzo returns with four more ghostly, constructs. "White Gorilla Cult" takes the lead, marching into the dense unknown fog, the defiance and sense of suspense building as the journey progresses. "Strategy Of Two Heavens" continues the drama with more war drum thumps and tense tones. Cinematic and pregnant with tension, full release is granted on the eerie, chilling breaking down. Flip for "Ujimasa" where momentum is ramped and battle is in full throe; relentless tribal beats are peppered with demonic, alien textures and the sense of conflict is palpable. "Shinto Muso Ryu" brings closure. A poignant calm after the storm laced with feint eastern flutes and a synapse snapping riddim. The battle is won but the war continues...

Abscess (hand-stamped 12")
Cat: DROOGS 003. Rel: 11 Sep 18
  1. Abscess (5:20)
  2. Momentum (5:32)
Review: More thrillingly heavy and mind-altering fare from UVB-76 offshoot Droogs, this time from previously unheralded Bristol producer and "close crew associate" Holsten. A-side "Abscess" is suitably dark and wild, with Holsten utilizing creepy, bass-heavy breakdowns to ratchet up the tension before unleashing the mother of all jungle riddims - cut-up and edited in true early '90s fashion - some distinctively trippy vocal samples before moving on to the flipside where the clandestine, paranoid feel continues on "Momentum".

  1. Heiress (5:44)
  2. Streetcleaner (5:44)
  3. Pyrosome (5:49)
  4. Nabilone (5:44)
Review: His first fresh material to land since his powerful debut LP document Negative Space, Homemade Weapons returns to Samurai with four more outstanding 23rd century jungle compositions. "Heiress" impresses instantly with jittering breaks, scorching textures and molten reese basses. "Street Cleaner" is a rifle-like militant drum assault while "Pyrosome" rattles with an unusually funky shuffle for the Canadian artist, hitting in a way that's not dissimilar to Paradox. Finally "Nabilone" rounds off with a brutal fusion of breaks, spliced savagely over densely pressurised atmospheres. This heiress's throne awaits....

  2. Primary (with Red Army) (6:10)
  3. Riddle (with The Untouchables) (6:06)
  4. Paroxysm (with Torana) (5:38)
Review: One of Seattle's most prominent bone rattlers Homemade Weapons gets lashes out with another "Weaponry" session. Once again bringing his comrades to the fore, besides the turbine shakes and militant insistency of the solo piece "Subcept" the EP features a rollcall of HW's most talented peers; Red Army joins him once again to build on "Sleep Terror" with the flighty, shaken and stirred "Primary", Belgian dons return the favour from their Mutations LP with a rolling dust-up that is "Riddle" while currently anonymous new duo make their debut on "Paroxysm", a blistering piece of work that's powered by wild drum detail and sudden bass drones that fly out of nowhere. Ready, aim, fire...

  1. Amen London (5:08)
  2. The Mystic Tune (5:37)
Review: Don't call the trading standards or anything, but Horrific James isn't a horror at all. He's quite the charming chap who will make you feel totally at home in his company. Unless he's behind the decks of course, then it's brutal business all the way. "Amen London" says it all; savage momentum, detailed break edits and a riff that's raw enough to make Digital blush. "The Mystic Tune" has a few more twists in its tale as an off-beat bassline bounces back and forth over twisted steppy drums while creepy pads breeze in and out with pure ice appeal. Amen to this.

  3. Proxima - "Retrace" (4:33)
  4. Icicle & Proxima - "Deep Dreaming" (4:12)
Review: Icy's Entropy imprint hits its second outing and he's brought along his equally talented and uncompromising cousin Proxima for the ride. "Outer Planes" (with ex Pendulum MC Ben Verse) kickstarts the adventure with grainy, scratchy bass while Icy goes solo for "Dust Me Off" with a lolloping, technoid hypnosis jam and Proxima gets squelchy and savage on "Retrace". "Deep Dreaming" maintains balance with a final colab between the two... And it does so with serious wind tunnel harmonic drama. Feel the burn.

Absolute Zero (1-sided 12")
Cat: INFRALTD 001. Rel: 09 Jul 18
  1. Absolute Zero (5:08)
Review: Pow: another ageless dub from J Majik's personal vaults, "Absolute Zero" was one of the many unreleased space expeditions under Jamie Spratling's Innervisions alter ego. Composed around 94/5 and galvanised with incredible drums that stand up to (and beyond) today's production standards, this one track damager lives in its own atmosphere. Unapologetic, evocative and colder than a night with the ex on Pluto. Visionary.

  3. Crisis Force (4:14)
  4. Decisions In Life (4:49)
Review: Prism Industrial Complex affiliate Intimacy delivers a quad of raw, physical house and jungle across two sides: the title track stands out with its Reinforced / Ibiza Records style jungle hedonism, "Memory Card" is a hurricane of atmospheres anchored by a bubblesome acid line while "Grid Projector" shimmers with dubby synths but maintains focus and edge with it industrial rhythmic elements. Muscular whistle-peppered warehouse brings the finale fire via "Decisions In Life". The (crisis) force is strong on this one.

Afterthought (12" promo)
Cat: CRIT 068. Rel: 25 Feb 13
  1. Afterthought (feat Frank Carter III)
  2. Brat
Review: Ivy Lab... The new name for Stray, Sabre and Halogenix who, exactly this time last year, stopped D&B floors in their tracks with the utterly stunning soully roller "Oblique". Featuring Frank Carter III it was unlike anything else being released at the time and was one of the scene's highlights. Here they re-join Frank for an equally stunning follow-up that's every bit as delicate as it is heavy. Frank's honey-like vocals are a delight while the textured tune beneath is deadly simple but overwhelmingly effective. The grumpy upstart "Brat" on the B shows they've still got cohones when they want too. Unadulterated sonic satisfaction.

Review: Newcastle's TJK returns to Italian experimental hub La Beaute Du Negatif with one of his most comprehensive and far-reaching EPs to date. Paying homage, perhaps, to the beauty of the loops that most our favourite records are made from "Start To End" ignites with the smouldering, percussive haze of "Jenesis" before plunging deeper and deeper into the jungle and IDM waters; the emotional heaviness of "Do The Job", the 20/20 vision and razor sharp breaks of "Place", the cosmic poignancy of the finale "YYRYRR" flow like immersive white knuckle trips, layered with textures and twists you'll be hearing for years.
