  1. Lacrima Rossa (6:31)
  2. Tromb Horn (6:12)
  3. MSH (6:12)
  4. Les Balearek (6:55)
Review: Since debuting back in 2013, Ringard (AKA Rennes-based producer Baptiste Leterte) has never strayed beyond the confines of his Dance Around 88 label. Until now, that is. Here, he pitches up on Parisian imprint Les Yeux Orange with a wonderfully deep and spaced-out EP. Interestingly, each of the four tracks comes blessed with oodles of intergalactic atmosphere, with drifting chords, pads and gentle melodies seemingly floating above incessant drum machine rhythms. This fusion is best regarded on opener "Lacrima Rossa", though the dreamier and more distorted "MSH" is almost as impressive. Also worth checking is slo-mo closer "Les Balearak", a pitched-down deep house number inspired by the White Isle that's more heart-breaking than Balearic.

  1. My Afrika (7:33)
  2. Eurovoodoo (6:52)
  3. El Sonido (9:05)
Review: More party techno from Italian A.M. specialist Riva Starr, who takes time out from his respected Snatch! Records for a top release on Damian Lazarus' esteemed imprint. The rolling main room people mover "Afrika" kicks things off in fine fashion. This bass heavy exercise reaches near tribal moments with its syncopated rhythmic grooves. He returns to the sound that made him popular in London (his hometown these days) in the mid noughties on the druggy afterhours minimal of "Eurovoodoo" channelling the vibe of those early m_nus records - but with some spooky witch doctor vocals atop. Finally on the flip, get ready for some spiritual life music that's probably aimed more at an African raindance rather than sun kissed White Isle hedonism that he's most usually affiliated with on "El Sonido". However, we are pretty sure it would equally go down well at Lazarus' regular appearances in Tulum and the Black Rock Desert.

  1. Spring Rain Soup (7:11)
  2. Hot GrapeFruit (6:25)
Review: Japan's Nice & Slow live up to their name. They aren't the most productive of labels - their first and last EP having come out back in 2013 - but what they do put out is quality, and we applaud any label who approaches the game in such a way. "Spring Rain Soup" is the leading track by ROA, an enigmatic house conjurer, and it's a gorgeous, sun-kissed deep house bomb carried forwards by a warm baseline, echoing chords, and stunning piano keys. Over on side B, "Hot Grapefruit" is more tropical in texture, and more broken in structure, but it's still as soothing and memorable as ever.

  1. New Sensation (7:11)
  2. New Sensation (Tom Noble remix) (6:04)
Review: Since making his debut earlier this year, Canadian producer Roberto Steenkamer has delivered vital material on Good Timin', No Bad Days and Red Motorbike. He rounds of 2016 with arguably his strongest single yet, the tactile, Balearic-minded dancefloor goodness of "New Sensation". Constructed out of dexterous, bouncy, Max D style drum machine rhythms and fluttering, new age influenced synthesizer melodies, it dozily floats between blissful breakdowns and crunchy, club-ready grooves. Label boss Tom Noble delivers the obligatory flipside remix, which effortlessly joins the dots between the spacey, far-sighted futurism of Motor City techno, and the tactile grooves of early New York house.

  3. Palta Con Crema (Eddie C remix) (6:59)
Review: Argentina's Cosmica welcomes Mexican duo Rocco & Esquivel for this deliciously fresh and fruity disco piece. Translating to avocados and cream, "Palta Con Creme" slaps and tickles with a succulent synth funk vibe that's not dissimilar to Silver City's 20/20 output in the mid 2000s. Playful and hooky, its freeform style lends itself both to the chugging deep space Dubmasters Electro mix and a darker, tech-laced twist from Red Motorbike-riding Eddie C. Full cream ahead!

A futuristic sound ep charged with hints Techno Latin and classical Italo influence also with the remixes included of "Chapo Guzman" and our great Damon Jee. Exceptional beginning for this label and where in addition They have prepared for us a lot of amazing references that will see the light as the year progresses. First reference Shara Music... Review: Franck Roger, the undisputed king of the Paris house scene, returns on his Home Invasion label for a solo appearance aimed at the dancefloor. "In The Clouds", as the name suggests, is a docile deep house tune with a gorgeous backdrop of dreamy synth waves, while "Yabba" is a little more mechanical and minimal-edged. "To Discover" wraps up this tidy EP with a shuffling beat twist, Zelda-like harmonics, and an altogether uplifting groove.

Review: Certified craftsman and OG in the game, Franck Roger remains as on-point as ever with these two ageless slices of sweet and sassy deep house on his own Home Invasion. "Love Is What We Need" is a dreamy strutter with a plucked synth bass, crisp beats and rippling chords that rise with Chanderesque charm while "Do It My Way" slips into something more comfortable with its sultry subtly filtered loop and insistent-yet-unhurried fluid sense of movement. Total class.

Cat: DPI 001. Rel: 21 Mar 16
  1. 93’ Mustang
  2. Faded Delorian
  3. Slammed Cadillac
  4. Jacked Up Impala
Review: For its premier release, Division Point Industries is proud to announce a 4-track EP by Rolling Ones, a collaborative project featuring Johannes Auvinen (Tin Man) and Jordan Poling (Jordan). Rolling Ones finds its voice in the synthesis of each artist's sound, combining Tin Man's acidic melodies with Jordan's deep, textural pads. Debuting at the Division Point Industries residency at Bushwick's notorious Bossa Nova Civic Club, Rolling Ones marked their arrival by playing a DJ back-to-back set. Opening the record is '93' Mustang', a muscular, no-nonsense roller built around deep wells of warm bass and slick-piston percussion. As it builds, Tin Man's signature acidic squelch dances in the remaining space, giving the track a sense of both life and depth. Next is 'Faded Delorian', an abyssal burner that refracts its ghostly tones around a panning labyrinth of crystalline synths. On the flip is 'Slammed Cadillac', a sinewy, stripped down stomper of clattering percussion and caustic 303s. 'Jacked Up Impala' finishes the record as a jacking acid tool.

  3. How Good Is The Party
  4. Twotet
Review: Dream Diary is a label operating out of Brixton that has previously featured the likes of Afriqua, Tom Gillieron and Richie Littler on its roster, and now it's the turn of the head honcho Oslo Roma to serve up some more of that subversive four-to-the-floor business. "Mars Water" is an infectious minimal roller with bass that wraps itself around your cerebellum and pulls you in deeper, while "Bubbles" does the same but without any drums to buffet it along. "How Good Is The Party" is a more experimental affair that deals with off kilter rhythmic fragments and spaced out textures, leaving EP closer "Twotet" to drop a more immediate slice of electro on the situation.

  3. Worx N Progress (7:17)
Review: From Detroit to Marseille, Gari Romalis makes his debut on Modelisme as he continues to deal some of the highest grade deep house to come from the motor city right now. "Vibe" has a warm hazy pump running throughout as ebb and flow textures wash gentle over the top with trippy disarmament. "Go" hits with an old school riff that'll have you from nought-to-looking up derelict warehouses and organising raves in 30 seconds. Finally "Worx N Progress" activates Gari's shuffle side with clipped beats and infectious dubby ripples. Essential.

  1. Abstraxx (Linear mix)
  2. Dark Ryda (Sunset mix)
  3. Heat (Bout That Life mix)
Review: Sudd Records has been going for some time as a digital-only label, but now they make the leap to vinyl with the help of Detroit champ Gari Romalis. "Abstraxx (Linear Mix)" kicks off the record in a heady fog of undulating pads, the smoke positively drifting out of the speaker cones over a simple, deep-as-you-like drum pattern. "Dark Ryda (Sunset Mix)" gets a little more funk in its rhythm, but the same mellow mood prevails, almost reaching dub techno levels in its atmospheric chord swells. "Heat (Bout That Life Mix)" takes things out of the darkness and into a lighter frame of mind, but Romalis is still firmly in the deep end of the deep house pool with this final cut on the record.

  4. Africans With Mainframes - "Loving Photons" (5:42)
  5. Gene Hunt - "Native 1987" (JF re-edit) (4:04)
Review: There's something delightfully simple about the formula behind Descendents of the Deep's From Chicago To Detroit series, which predictably aims to bring together top-notch deep house from the Windy and Motor cities. This second installment begins with JF's previously unheard re-edit of Gari Romalis' 1995 cut "Butcher's Choice", a righteous lesson in bumpin', New Jersey-influenced deep house. It's followed by a typically emotionally-rich Larry Heard dub of Jordan Fields' 1994 cut "Lifted My Soul", before Maxi Aubert combines Heard style analogue deepness with rich, Motor City electronics on "Message In The Box". Elsewhere, there's a new JF edit of Gene Hunt's throbbing 1987 jack-jam "Native", and a wonderfully broken chunk of techno/house fusion from Africans With Mainframes.

  4. She Owns The Game (6:26)
Review: Since proving his skills via the self-funded Raw Tools imprint, Romanian producer Romansoff has released impressive material on Bitter Moon, Signal Code and Ruff Draft. Here, he makes his first appearance on Creme Organization, unfurling a quartet of cuts that sit somewhere between Legowelt, ASOK, and John Heckle after a fist full of love tablets. Pleasingly, it's a varied affair, featuring both deep and melodious moments (the trippy vocal samples, chiming melodies and shuffling beats of "Who You Gonna Call"), and more obviously upbeat cuts (the swirling, space age throb of "Bundle Of Acid"). Our pick is the tactile, energetic and melodious "Wrath of Zeus", but all four tracks are nigh on essential.
