Behringer CAT Duophonic Analogue Synthesiser
Cat: 772857 Rel: 08 Jun 20

analogue synthesiser
Notes: Great care has been taken in engineering the CAT, including the true to the original analog circuitry, legendary VCO, VCF and VCA designs that come together to recreate classic tones that are evocative of classic electronic music. This highly-focused attention to detail is what gives the CAT its ultra-flexible sound shaping capability. It gives you the ability to cover a lot of amazing tones from super-fat bass, tasty leads - and all the way to full on dreamy ambience from the far reaches of your imagination.

The synthesizer tracks laid down in the 1970s and 80s in progressive rock, wave and synth-pop have become classics and have inspired many other artists.

The CAT has the ability to accept any keyboard controller via MIDI. The signals generated can be tweaked via the Pitch Bend slider which can bend a note up or down one octave. Bump this up to two octaves by flipping the Octave Shift switch up or down. Use the Glide slider to change how fast a note transitions to another; up is faster, down is slower. Combine that with the LFO Freq slider to control the LFO and ADSR repeat tempo and you can create some amazing pulsating portamentos.

The very heart of the CAT's sound is its two VCOs. The Duophonic/Paraphonic nature of the CAT allows both oscillators to be controlled independently. Use the Fine and Coarse Frequency controls to tune VCO1 to VCO2. Keyboard control on the CAT can be set to either Mono or Poly. Poly mode lets VCO1 generate the highest note played on the keyboard while VCO2 handles the lowest allowing two notes to be played simultaneously. Setting the switch to Mono mode makes VCO1 generate the lowest note depressed on the keyboard.

Waveform switches on both VCOs allow different waveforms to be patched in from the LFO. Choose between Sine, Square, Sample and Hold and even pitch modulation through each VCO. Turning the Modulation Depth knobs in either direction controls the intensity of the effect. VCO2 also comes with a Sync switch that locks VCO1 with it and has them act as one huge oscillator to produce more complex waveforms and dramatic results. Mix VCO1 into VCO2 or vice versa and the CAT can produce some really tasty tones that make themselves at home in your next synth jam.

Each VCO on the CAT comes equipped with their own waveform sliders where you can adjust the volume of each type of VCO wave form. Pump up the Sub Octave, Sawtooth, Square, Triangle or Pulse waves or mix them all together and create some truly unique tones.

The CAT comes with another set of claws in the form of a VCF filter section. Here you can get more complex and robust tones by incorporating VCO1 into the mix. Introduce more waveforms and manipulate the Q slider to emphasize harmonics and Filter Cutoff slider which acts as a low-pass filter. Turn the CAT into a really funky bass machine or an out-of-this-world synth that creates some searing lead tones. You can even create some amazing drum sounds by manipulating the VCOs, VCF and ADSR.

The CAT features a whole slew of Inputs and Outputs that expand its capabilities beyond what you can see out of the box. You can route external control voltages to VCO1 or 2, the VCF and even pump in some external line-level audio into the CAT. You can even connect the CAT to other external synthesizers through the Gate, ADSR, AR or Keyboard Outputs. The CAT's 16-note Poly Chain function lets you combine multiple synthesizers for up to 16-voice polyphony - and it provides vastly improved reliability and stability over its 1970s and '80s predecessors.

To give the signal even more character, you can use the CAT's Transient Generator to create a detailed voltage transient every time a key is depressed. Adjust the Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release via the matching sliders and to shape your signal. The AR transient generator works similarly to the ADSR but with less detailed control over the envelope. You can also set the ADSR to automatically repeat or only when a key is held down. The Sample and Hold switch can be set so the VCO1 setting is sampled or, when set to Noise mode, produce a random output pattern. Slide the LFO Delay control up or down to determine when the LFO will reach its maximum output after a key is depressed.

The CAT has 47 controls, all laid out in a highly-intuitive format that puts the joy back into your music creation.

Moog Subharmonicon Semi Modular Polyrhythmic Analogue Synthesiser
Cat: 776833 Rel: 01 Jul 20

analogue synthesiser
Notes: Subharmonicon is a semi-modular polyrhythmic analog synthesizer that employs a 6-tone sound engine and multi-layered sequencers to explore the world of subharmonics, polyrhythms, and the unique relationships they create.

Subharmonicon's characteristic sound starts with two analog VCOs and four Subharmonic Oscillators for a total of six powerful sound sources. Each subharmonic tone is mathematically derived from one of the two main VCOs, giving the resulting chord shapes a beautifully coherent quality. Onboard quantization lets you dial in perfect intervals every time with selections for multiple tuning systems. Choose from contemporary Equal Temperament settings, the heavenly intervals of Just Intonation, or the unlimited freedom of no quantization at all.

Animating Subharmonicon's distinctive chord shapes is done through a polyrhythmic pair of 4-Step Sequencers. Each sequencer is clocked by any or all of four Rhythm Generators that output mathematical divisions of the master tempo. Layer multiple Rhythm Generators on top of each other to create complex polyrhythms and discover inspiring new patterns and styles. Delve into Subharmonicon's dual Envelope Generators, Moog Ladder Filter, and analog VCA to call up dynamic articulations ranging from lush pads and blurred edges to percussive plosives and ritualistic rhythms.

Although no patching is required to start creating, exploring Subharmonicon's modular patchbay unlocks worlds of possibilities as you make novel connections and plug into new ideas. The 32-point 3.5mm patchbay can be patched into itself, expanding Subharmonicon's onboard capabilities, or interfaced with Mother-32, DFAM, and other external Eurorack-compatible gear (MIDI Type A adapter included for DIN to 3.5mm MIDI input). Use as a standalone synth with included +12V DC power supply or simply remove the front panel to install into any Eurorack system.

The Moog Subharmonicon is a versatile analog labyrinth of subharmonically derived synthesis and polyrhythmic sound.

Subharmonicon is inspired by Joseph Schillinger's mathematical system for musical composition and is influenced by two analog innovations from the 1930s and 1940s: the Mixtur-Trautonium, which employed a series of subharmonic oscillators to generate electronic undertones, and the Rhythmicon (developed by Leon Theremin!), an instrument capable of sounding multiple harmonically related polyrhythm generators simultaneously.

The Mixtur-Trautonium created subharmonics by dividing the frequency of its primary oscillator, while the Rhythmicon created polyrhythms that were multiplications of its primary tempo. These concepts of subharmonics and polyrhythms form the historic roots of the Moog Subharmonicon.

The undertone series, or subharmonic series, results from the division of an initial fundamental frequency (f) by successive integer values (unlike the overtone series, which results from integer multiples of the fundamental frequency). Where overtones are found to occur naturally in acoustic sounds, undertones must be produced through more extreme or novel methods, such as electronic circuitry.

Polyrhythms employ multiple rhythms playing at once to create complex, interweaving phrases. In the same way that a subharmonic oscillator divides the fundamental frequency (f) to create a musically related subharmonic, each rhythm generator in Subharmonicon uses an integer value to divide the current tempo value (t) to create a new rhythm.

Malekko Quad LFO Module (black faceplate)
Cat: 766096

LFO module
Notes: An LFO, or low frequency oscillator, sends control voltage out in the shape of a waveform. The Quad LFO available shapes include sine, ramp, saw, triangle and pulse and moves through these shapes using the SHAPE slider. You can send these 4 distinct LFOs directly out or to other modules for frequency modulation, VCA control, filter control, etc.

What makes this Quad LFO module different is that it also includes a 16 step automation sequencer for each channel, as well as autosave or expanded preset functions when used in conjunction with Varigate 4+ and Varigate 8+.

Multiple Quad LFOs can be controlled by one Varigate 8+ or Varigate 4+ on the same bus to instantly save/recall presets.

To create a sequence of automation for an LFO, select a channel and then hold the RECORD button and move the sliders for Frequency, Phase, Shape, Distort and Level and those slider movements will play back automatically as the Quad LFO cycles through the sequence. This sequencing feature allows for a multitude of dynamic possibilities for live performance and recording.

Set each LFO to trigger via one of the 4 individual gate inputs, or set channels 2 through 4 to follow channel 1 for quadrature and phase modulation. Change the direction of each channel of sequenced automation to Forward, Reverse, Pendulum or Random. Switch the playback speed and style between Fast, Slow or Tempo Sync. There are also inputs for both Clock and Reset.

Korg SoundLink MW2408 Hybrid Analogue & Digital Mixer
Cat: 762144

hyrbid analogue & digital mixer
Notes: A mixer should not only sound good. It should be very easy to use.

Korg has collaborated with the legendary mixer design team of Greg Mackie and Peter Watts to create hybrid/analog mixing consoles that make creative mixing easy. Both the 24- and 16-channel models give you instant analog control for live mixing with stunning sound quality and more musician-friendly features than the competition - paired with the power of high-quality digital where it counts.

Use a SoundLink and you discover all the typical Greg Mackie features that are unique to SoundLInk; hear your first live mix and discover why Peter Watts helped design legendary Trident consoles and then hundreds of high-end studio processors and preamps. Besides designing mixers, Greg Mackie has been mixing on them for over 40 years.

When you listen to the "White Album", Rhianna's "Rated R" and "Loud", "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and literally hundreds of other familiar albums, you're listening to the legendary Trident mixing console sound. Peter Watts had an important role in Trident technology; he brings the same rich, warm preamp, EQ and dynamics quality to the products he designs today. HiVolt mic preamps give you the most headroom of any comparably-priced analog or digital mixer (16.5V internal voltage, even on stereo channels where other mixers skimp). They sound warm and musical.

It is the only small mixer that has Mute Groups. They let you instantly call up different combinations of channels for various groups on stage, different songs, sound checks, a solo acoustic number, a drum solo or different parts of a church service (choir, praise band, pastor. You get four Group options, each easily programmable and recallable.

Some musicians want to hear more of their own instrument or voice in their in-ear or floor monitor, a process that is complicated to change on other mixers. SoundLink's Musician's Phone feature provides one-knob boost of the complete left/right mix into the musician's individual track. Instead of having to change main mix settings or take up a bus, you have dedicated knobs for two musician's "more me" monitor mixes.

Instead of a generic digital effects processor chip, SoundLink mixers use a high-quality proprietary Korg custom chip that builds on all of Korg's multi-decade expertise: twenty four ultra-realistic digital effects. For example, all six reverb effects include an alternate "WARM" version- a touch veteran Korg users will tell you is very useful. Parameters of all effects can be tweaked, saved and recalled, and activated by an optional footswitch. Plus, you get test tone generators for use with the built-in 24-band Spectrum Analyzer that's another SoundLink exclusive in a mixer in this price range.

Digital processing and effects are frustrating if they're buried in some long, scrolling menu inside a menu. For EQ and other control features, and a row of individual L/R, AUX 1 and Aux 2 assign buttons for both Equalization and Dynamics makes mixing easier. SoundLink's Limiter, Compressor, Noise Gate are both effective without being harsh or exaggerated. Each has tweakable, recallable parameters. Coupled with a 31-band Spectrum Analyzer, our super-practical 31-band/9-band ParaGraphic EQ solves acoustical problems other small mixers can't handle.

Behringer CP3A-M Mixer Module

Notes: Enter the Behringer CP3A-M Analog Mixer Module. An authentic reproduction of the circuitry from the Modular 55, 35 and 15 series mixers used by the world's most famous pop, rock and jazz musicians. Now musicians can build their very own, unique, synthesizer that can fit in a standard Eurorack case for a very affordable price. Mix and match with specific modules to customize your synth and complement the genre of music you play or go all out and have a room filled from floor to ceiling with modules that'll fulfill any synth geek's wildest dreams.

The CP3A-M Module features 4 3.5 mm input channels each with its own input knob to allow users to adjust the volume of incoming signals. The module also comes with two pairs of outputs, one positive and one negative plus a passive Master Gain knob for overall control of the CP3A-M's output volume. The transistor circuitry adds character to your mix.

Patching is the backbone of modular synths and that's why we've included dual 4-point multiple circuits to act as a patchbay for users to be able to route 3 copies of any output signal to other modules. So you can have one signal go into a delay module then have another signal go into a step sequencer or other modules to create more intricate patches and hours and hours of fun.

Installing the CP3A-M is simple as it was designed to fit into a standard Eurorack case. Just connect the power cables to the power supply and screw in the module using the included screws. This allows for the CP3A-M to be mixed with other synth modules for a truly unique set up.

Behringer MONITOR1 Premium Passive Stereo Monitor and Volume Controller
Cat: 762588

stereo monitor & volume controller
Notes: The MONITOR1 Premium Passive Stereo Monitor and Volume Controller takes the analogue signal to the next level, putting high-resolution audio level control right at your fingertips. With no active circuitry or digital artifacts to color the sound, you can instantly adjust the level of your active studio monitors. The large volume knob makes it easy to dial-in the perfect level every time, without having to reach for your mixer or your mouse. With XLR/TRS combo Inputs and XLR Outputs, as well as two 3.5 mm (1/8") jacks, MONITOR1 is ultra-easy to connect to your current system - and it is so affordable.

Although it sounds contradictory, the MONITOR1 is totally passive, meaning external power is not required and there is no active circuitry to affect the purity of the analogue signal coming from your mixer or audio interface. MONITOR1 doesn't get in the way of your sound source, and will not add any distortion or RF interference to your system. So whether you're recording in your bedroom or laying down tracks at a professional recording studio, MONITOR1 makes sure the volume is always exactly where you need it, when you need it. And when it's time for a break, just press the convenient Mute button to turn the sound completely off.

Small knobs make for low precision. Conversely, the bigger the knob is, the higher the precision. Think of a knob as a circle. On a small circle/knob, the distance from one degree to the next is very small, making it difficult to dial-in perfection. On MONITOR1's big knob, the distance between degrees of the circle is much larger, allowing you to make high-precision adjustments with ease. MONITOR1's bigger knob helps you set levels fast and accurately.

MONITOR1 takes up a fraction of the space on your desk as your mixer, and thanks to its tiny footprint it's never in the way. But even though it is small, MONITOR1 is all about quality, all the way from the stereo XLR/TRS combo and 1/8" Inputs to the XLR and 1/8" Outputs. Built from the highest-grade components, MONITOR1 is the perfect way to put a little easy into your current studio monitoring setup.

Mix and match with specific modules to customize your synth and complement the genre of music you play or go all out and have a room filled from floor to ceiling with modules that'll fulfill any synth geek's wildest dreams.

The CP3A-O Module features 4 routing switches that enable you to send Control Voltages to one or more oscillators. Switches 1 to 3 are connected to Control Inputs 1, 2 and 3; switch 4 can be used to route an external Control Voltage signal via a 3.5 mm TS plug and can be controlled by an attenuator knob.

You can route up to three external control voltage signals to any of the three summed Control Inputs. Signals from these inputs can be combined by flipping any of the matching routing switches on. The parallel jacks at the bottom will route the final combined voltage signal to any module they're connected to. A great way to utilize the CP3A-O is to have it drive multiple 921A or B oscillator modules which can allow you to create more intricate patches and hours and hours of fun.
