Review: We present you 'Mamma Jamma' - an astonishing debut release on Disco Fruit from the Montenegrin up & coming duo 84Bit, inc. hot remixes by : Dr Packer, Hotmood and Tonbe. This release is everything you will ever need for your very special gigs! Dr Packer plays beautifully with percussions & vocals and manages to leave his recognizable mark on this release. Adjust Your Love EP

  3. Horizons
Review: We can confirm that Adam "Admin" Wickens is not only a hugely talented DJ and producer, but also a thoroughly nice chap. Here he makes his bow on Better Listen with a three-tracker packed to the rafters with warmth, soul and groove. Check first A-side "Adjust Your Love", a sample-fired workout that effortlessly joins the dots between disco, deep house and star-kissed jazz-funk, before turning your attention to the chopped-and-screwed samples, toasty sub-bass, languid beats and echoing piano snippets of "Easy Love Dub". The Bristol-based producer rounds things off in fine style via "Horizons", a slightly bouncier house cut that makes great use of some bluesy piano samples and another stoned, glassy-eyed bassline.

  3. Don't Stop
Review: Andromeda Orchestra returns, unearthing "Don't Stop" and employing Ray Mang on remix duties, turning the track into a peak-time disco master class. Strings, Clav's, Piano's, spacey keyboard solo's, sound fx and modern disco drums collide for maximum dance floor connection. It's perfect for the bigger clubs and festival sets and yet still intimate enough for the smaller ones.

B1 see's "Kano Line Dance", finally receiving the vinyl release it deserves. This spacey disco nugget effortlessly combines Rhodes and guitars to create yet another modern, dance floor hit, which is already receiving support from the likes of Horse Meat Disco. Rounding off the EP on B2 is the original of "Don't Stop". The disco original sits perfectly between "Constellation Orchestra" and the more underground disco sound of New York. Perfect for the summer.

Review: Since signing with Ransom Note Records in 2016, Bawrut has been on a fine run of form. Remarkably, this is the Madrid-based Italian's fifth EP for the imprint and it's every bit as memorable as its four predecessors. Like much of his work, title track "Pronto Arpeggio" is rich in razor-sharp analogue electronics, with high register arpeggio synthesizer lines rising above punchy beats, manic drum fills and mind-altering acid motifs. It's successfully toughened up by KiNK before Bawrut returns with "Shooreee", another boldly percussive and constantly building exercise in analogue electronics manipulation. Ruf Dug's brilliant remix takes the track to another level entirely via even denser drums, rougher acid riffs and more glistening lead lines, while "Atchu" is a chugging chunk of late night acid sleaze.

Review: In our opinion, there are few labels out there quite as consistent as Craigie Knowes. The Scottish imprint has been on fire of late, and this label debut from Tone Dropout and Klasse Wrecks regular Darren "Dawl" Woollard is another surefire winner. There's a sweaty, saucer-eyed feel to the EP, from the acid-fired breakbeat madness of throbbing opener "Let's Go" and the accurately titled insanity of "Heavyweight" - all chopped-up rave-era riffs, booming bass and skittish drums - to the mind-altering acid psychedelia of hypnotic closing cut "Overdub" and the warehouse-friendly 1990 breakbeat hardcore skip of sub-heavy smasher "Drop It". In other words, it's a reliably charged-up set of misty-eyed workouts.

  2. Voice Inside (The Backwoods remix)
  3. Voice Inside (English version)
  4. Voice Inside (Craig Richards Authority Clash remix)
Review:
Things I see. Things I hear. Things I say. Things I wish I'd said. Things I do. Things I'm meant to do. Things I wish I'd done. Things I love. Things that make me love. Things that make me smile. Returning to Not An Animal for the 4th time, Ess O Ess create the 'Voice Inside' on NAAR 16.

Instantly tom rolling into a neo-electro commodity, 'Voice Inside' undulates with lustrous vocals that stand as the tracks core. Pads cling to bleeps and guitar chunks that evaporate with alternating delays. 'Voice Inside (French)' adds a sensual linguistic twist, although the elements remain the same, they feel so different. 'Voice Inside (Dub)' completes the A, stripping tones back and chopping the duration to find yet another gorgeous avenue.

On the flip, Backwoods Remix adds to the original atmosphere with a face scrunching bass-line and pulsating 4/4 kicks that embraces the not so distant future. Last but by no means least, the mighty Craig Richards' signature 808s pound on the remix to close the B. Pulling darker tones to pitch shifted vocals, this minimalist beat composition is perfectly suited for vigorous floors.

Regular collaborators Malin and Yaleesa have turned out plenty of joint 12"s in the past on Will & Ink and this very label, and they sound more comfortable and sonically aligned than ever on this mighty record. There's no messing with "Alpha Decay," a loose and lysergic dubby techno workout. "Tachyon" orbits a similar soundworld, but shears the fat away for a minimal palette that sounds powerful echoing around the ample space in the mix. "Muck" slips into freaky after hours house territory, and "Stocha" drops a massive Basic Channel dub techno chord around a whisper of a beat to devastating effect.

Review: Alex "Kiwi" Warren has barely put a foot wrong in recent times, with a superb DJ Rocca collaboration and some fine EPs on Disco Halal, Cin Cin and Paradise Palms. Here he adds another record label to the CV via a second outing on Needwant. In its original form, "Kiya" is a baggy, sunrise-ready house cut drive forwards by low-slung bass, chiming melodies, layered percussion, twinkling pianos and choice snatches of vocal apparently borrowed from an old African record. The "Rave Mix" is a more driving excursion smothered in intergalactic motifs and trance-like synth sounds, while the Brian Ring revision is looser, sparser and altogether more glassy-eyed. Warren rounds things off via the "Dreamscape Mix", a stunning ambient interpretation for those who like their sounds swirling and beat free.

Review: We were really impressed by "Invisibility Theory", the Sushitech released debut album from Christi Cons and Vlad Caia's Sideways Invisibility Theory project. This speedy follow-up for Half Baked Records (under the truncated SIT pseudonym) is rather good, too. Check first A-side "Spectral", a typically epic excursion where warm ambient chords, deep space electronics and glistening electric guitar motifs bob and weave around a chunky analogue bassline and locked-in tech-house drums. B-side opener "Owl Farm" is notably wonkier and weirder, with druggy drums, mind-altering electronics and the trademark glitch-laden shuffle we've come to expect from Romanian electronic music. That vibe is explored further on twisted closing cut "Animation", a particularly alien example of skewed tech-house funk.

Review: The first Sex Tags Mania outing of 2019 comes from a familiar face: label regular Skatebard. It's the eccentric Norwegian producer's first outing for the Fett brothers' delightfully quirky house and techno imprint since 2013. He's in druggy late night mode on "Conga", layering dubbed-out U.S garage style organ stabs and warehouse-ready riffs atop a jacking, Chicago house influenced rhythm track. On the flip, Skatebard guests on a live cover of the track by mysterious Sex Tags twosome Crystal Bois. Review: A little more than a year on from his first appearance on Local Talk, Philpot Records co-founder Michel "Soulphiction" Baumann returns to the much-loved Swedish imprint. Naturally he's in fine form on a loose but on-point cut that sounds like it emerged from one of Baumann's now legendary lengthy live jams. The A-side "Hi Phife Mix" of "Beehive" is loopy and hypnotic with "French Kiss" style hooks bubbling away atop seemingly non-stop machine drums. The flipside "Classic Mix" strips things back, with Baumann peppering clanky, early Chicago house style drums with a more fluid take on the now familiar hook. Best of all though is Jamie 3:26's "Windy City Bump" remix, which is the kind of sweaty and hypnotic jack attack of which his hero Ron Hardy would have approved.

While that's undoubtedly true, the Detroiter has incredibly high standards and rarely puts out anything mediocre. The four tracks here are all deliciously deep and fluid, with the Fender Rhodes solos, meandering organ lines, warm bass and chunky beats of "Never Give Up" delivering just the right blend of instrumental goodness and dancefloor-ready weightiness. "Seen At Night" is an even deeper and hazier treat, while "Forever Alone" sees Wade wrap bongo-laden beats and eyes-closed electric piano chords around a ludicrously warm and heavy bassline. Solo-laden closing cut "Rooftop" is also superb - a proper sundown selection of the highest calibre.

Review: If you enjoyed Yu Su's brilliant EP on Second Circle earlier in the year - and, let's face it, who didn't? - there's a rather high chance that you'll enjoy her first outing on Ninja Tune offshoot Technicolour. "Watermelon Woman" is a superb chunk of bass-heavy house music positive - an inventive and hugely enjoyable fusion of unfussy drum machine rhythms, sampled tribal drums, toasty bass, dubbed-out effects, stargazing electronics, fluttering flutes and jazzy motifs that have just the right amount of breezy Latin flavour. The original version comes backed with a hazy and laidback Dub rework and a boisterous, off-kilter remix by Francis Inferno Orchestra that layers rubbery sounds and heady vocal samples above a skewed tribal house beat.
