Notes: The Varigate 4+ is a 4-channel, 8-step sequencer that includes most features of the original Varigate 4, PLUS the new option to output both CV (quantized or unquantized) and gates simultaneously. This is the Behringer System 100 110 VCO/VCF/VCA Module. An authentic reproduction of the original "System 100M" circuitry from the 80s that can fit in a standard Eurorack case. The best part? It's at a very affordable price. Mix the 110 in with your existing rig or start your modular synth journey from here. Either way you're sure to have a lot of fun!

The 110 comes with a complete synth voice with an internally patched signal flow for ease of use and to save patching time so you can focus on your music. You can vary the VCO section by selecting one of three waveforms; triangle, ramp and Pulse Width Modulation which can be adjusted by the Mod Manual knob. The VCO also offers pitch and range control knobs as well as one audio output, which can be routed to another source, and two CV inputs.

The VCF features cutoff frequency and resonance sliders while the VCA comes with two audio outputs (low/high). Both the VCF and VCA each feature two audio inputs and two CV inputs that allow for other sources to be plugged into the 110, making it a must-have in any modular synth.

Installing the 110 VCO/VCF/VCA is simple as it was designed to fit into a standard Eurorack case. Just connect the power cables to the power supply and mount the module using the included screws. This allows for the 110 VCO/VCF/VCA to be mixed with other synth modules for a truly unique set up.

Notes: An LFO, or low frequency oscillator, sends control voltage out in the shape of a waveform. The Quad LFO available shapes include sine, ramp, saw, triangle and pulse and moves through these shapes using the SHAPE slider. You can send these 4 distinct LFOs directly out or to other modules for frequency modulation, VCA control, filter control, etc.

What makes this Quad LFO module different is that it also includes a 16 step automation sequencer for each channel, as well as autosave or expanded preset functions when used in conjunction with Varigate 4+ and Varigate 8+.

Multiple Quad LFOs can be controlled by one Varigate 8+ or Varigate 4+ on the same bus to instantly save/recall presets.

To create a sequence of automation for an LFO, select a channel and then hold the RECORD button and move the sliders for Frequency, Phase, Shape, Distort and Level and those slider movements will play back automatically as the Quad LFO cycles through the sequence. Notes: Cosmix is an 8-channel stereo mixer with a built in analog stereo dual band maximizer.

It has four mono channels and two stereo channels, the left inputs 5 and 7 are normalised to the right inputs 6 and 8 respectively.

The four mono channels have panning- and aux send controls.

All channels are accommodated with a dedicated mute switch for live performance.

The aux output can be routed to an external effect and the four small switches below the volume faders set whether the signal that is routed to the aux bus is pre or post fader.

The master bus can optionally be fed into the stereo Drive circuit.

This circuit is true stereo, and improves almost any sound source, with full bass and amazing spatial resolution.

It works like a dual band maximizer, with separate faders for high and low frequencies.

The analog overdrive circuit can be bypassed but we don't recommend it as it sounds great and really glues the whole mix together nicely.

The overall volume can be set with the main volume knob.

The output of the compressor feeds into a diode clipping circuit, to to create a warm saturated distortion.

By playing with the levels of each channel different clipping characteristics can be achieved.

However if you prefer to keep the output signal clean, the bypass switch allows you to bypass the circuit.

The white lines indicate the non-distorted 0dB point for each channel, when the drive circuit is active and the sliders are set to zero.

Driving a channel above the white line pushes it into more overdrive and distortion, assuming 10vpp Eurorack level.

Different tones can be created by playing around with the gain staging!

Notes: Module A-174-4 outputs three control voltages generated by a spring-loaded X/Y cross potentiometer (so-called joy stick) and a Gate signal. The control voltages for X and Y are controlled by the X and Y position of the joystick in the usual way. The third control voltage Z is controlled by the rotation of the spring-loaded joystick knob. The Gate signal is generated by a button at the center/top of the joystick knob.

For each control voltage the non-inverted signal (X, Y, Z) as well as the inverted signal with adjustable offset (-X+XO, -Y+YO, -Z+ZO) are available. The generic joystick control voltages are bipolar, i.e. they range from typ. -5V (lowest position) via 0V (center position) to typ. +5V (highest position). The "Overlap" switches can be used to add a fixed offset voltage of typ. +5V to the non-inverting output in question so that the output voltage range changes to typ. 0...+10V (rather than -5...+5V). That's necessary if e.g. a VCA has to be controlled, which requires a pure positive control voltage range. The switches are named "overlap" because they allow the overlapping of the non-inverting CV output (X, Y, Z) with the inverting output (-X+XO, -Y+YO, -Z+ZO) for crossfading applications. With the overlap switch "on" and appropriate setting of the offset control it's possible to obtain a control voltage range of 0...+10V for the non-inverting output and +10V...0V (i.e. same range but opposite direction) for the inverting output.

The offset voltages which are added to the inverting outputs can be adjusted by means of three small potentiometers. That way different kinds of control voltage ranges are possible, e.g.
-5V ... +5V for the non-inverting output and +5V ... -5V for the inverting output ( Overlap = off, Offset = 0)
0 ... +10V for the non-inverting output and +10V ... 0V for the inverting output ( Overlap = on, Offset = max)
-5V ... +5V for the non-inverting output and +10V ... 0V for the inverting output ( Overlap = off, Offset = max)
0 ... +10V for the non-inverting output and +5V ... -5V for the inverting output ( Overlap = on, Offset = 0)
On top of this the four quadrant voltages Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4 are available. A quadrant voltage becomes positive when the joystick is positioned in the quadrant in question.
Each CV output is equipped with an LED that displays the present voltage.

Important note:
Because of the construction height of the joystick (about 7 cm) the module cannot be installed into the cases A-100P6, A-100P9, A-100PMS6, A-100PMS9 and A-100PMS12 during transportation as the depth of the case cover is not sufficient. Into the base cases A-100PB and A-100PMB as well as in all other cases without cover the module can be installed without problems. Doepfer are close to finding a solution for this problem.

Notes: An extensible performance mixer with CV-control.

This module adds a main mixer to your AE modular system! It contains four channels; each channel has a level control, a left-right pan control and two FX send controls.

The stereo returns for the FX paths have individual level controls, and finally a master level control.

The channel levels can be controlled via CV inputs, if no CV is attached, the level knob works as usual volume control.

The inputs, FX sends/returns and master out are available as AE sockets; additionally, the FX sends/returns and master are also available as minijack sockets. FX returns are stereo (3.5 stereo minijack socket), master out is available as 2 separate mono minijack sockets and as one stereo socket.

With this module, you can integrate external effect units like guitar pedals and others into your AE modular system.

Notes: Dual xFade is a compact voltage controlled crossfader suitable for both audio and CVs. Smaller knobs set manual crossfade between A<>B, and bigger knobs are CV attenuverters. LEDs show the adjusted positive and negative CV sides for easy monitoring.

Upper inputs (section 1) are normalled to lower inputs (section 2). Thus the same signal pair A&B can be differently crossfaded in both sections.

The switch clones section's 1 controls to the section 2, which is useful to make stereo Dry/Wet adjustment or stereo VCA.

This module can be used as:

Four jumpers on the back can give optional 5x amplification for each A or B input. Sot it is easy to crossfade modular level with linear level from pedals. Installed jumpers give 1x amplification, removing jumpers gives 5x amplification.

Notes: TriTone is a three section EQ plus saturator. Inner knobs control frequency and outer knobs control +- gain. All these sections Hi Shelf, Band Pass and Low Shelf are having + 20 db of gain and 30 db of reduction. Each section can work independently or they can be serially connected by the switches. Middle input in each section accepts CV for its frequency, so all three sections can be individually FMed by the external CVs.

If the inputs are fed with the modular level signals (+- 5V), then there is little room for "plus" EQ gains before saturation starts. In this case the input level should be attenuated first, if saturation is not desired and much "plus" gain is needed. Otherwise saturation drastically enriches the tone and the module works like very flexible overdrive FX.

When the switches are set to upper positions, then all three sections work independently. With the maximum gain reduction (CCW position) of the upper section (Hi Shelf) it becomes a useful kind of Low Pass filter. On the contrary - maximum gain reductions of the lower section (Low Shelf) makes it a High Pass filter.

Please note the internal routing done by the switches: the output of the uppers section is added to the input of the subsequent lower section. If nothing is connection to this lower sections' input, then only the upper section's output is processed. This makes it a 3 band EQ with the switches set to lower position. Having separated inputs opens up more possibilities over ordinary EQs.

The Lifeforms Primary Oscillator was designed to stretch the boundaries of pure sonic sculpting. The Primary Oscillator uses unique cascading waveform processing to create increasingly complex, fully modulatable waveforms. Through the use of multiple interwoven waveshapers, a simple waveform can quickly mutate into something deeply dynamic and harmonically rich.

Custom waveshapers include a harmonic sine wave; a sine processed to add just enough harmonics to give a resonant filter something to dig into. Next, the included blade wave processor is an evolution of Pittsburgh's custom modulation circuit, creating modulatable ramp and pulse waves. The fragments generator is an analog downsampler capable of crushing waveforms to dust without ever sounding thin or cold. Also included, the timbre wave folder enables deep spectral change by repeatedly folding the waveform in on itself until the original waveform is unrecognizable.

The Primary Oscillator is not meant to be a clean oscillator that produces perfect waveforms. Controlled signal interactions and the unique set of cascading waveshapers at the heart of the Primary Oscillator allow for a uniquely musical approach to experimenting with a wide array of interesting sounds. Instead of relying only on the standard set of simple wave shapes, the Primary Oscillator builds on the basics to offer a powerful palate of infinitely variable waveforms. No other analog oscillator offers such a creative and deep set of audio processing tools.

Primary Oscillator Controls

OSCILLATOR CODE

Based around the custom dual VCA oscillator designed for the Microvolt 3900, the Primary Oscillator takes advantage of calibrated temperature stabilization paired with hard sync and both linear and exponential frequency modulation. The result is a stable saw core oscillator fine tuned for deep sonic exploration.

Frequency Knob - Frequency control sweeps from LFO through the full audio range.

Fine Tune Knob - Limited range frequency control.

FM | CV Button - Switch the destination of the FM input jack between linear FM (on) and exponential CV (off) modulation.

Harmonic Sine Button - Switch between sine wave (off) and harmonic sine wave (on). Harmonic sine wave adds a minimal number of harmonics to a sine allowing for a new set of timbres to emerge.

FM | CV Amount Trimmer - FM input attenuator control.

Pitch Input Jack - 1 volt per octave pitch tracking CV input.

FM Input Jack - Linear FM or exponential CV input jack.

Sync Input Jack - Hard sync oscillator reset input jack.

Sine Wave Output Jack - Sine wave or harmonic sine wave output jack.

Saw Wave Output Jack - Saw wave output jack.

BLADE WAVE AND PULSE WAVE CONTROLS

The blade wave is a modulatable ramp wave that produces an evolving waveform capable of stable pitch tracking. The shape of the blade wave can be controlled using the blade | pulse CV input and attenuator creating a sweeping or chorus effect on the wave. The blade | pulse shape slider manually sweeps the blade wave and pulse width.

Blade Core Wave Source Button - Select the waveform used as the core wave for the blade wave. Triangle (on) or sine (off). If sine is selected, the harmonic sine button affects the blade wave shape.

Blade|Pulse Width Shape Slider - Manual Blade wave shape and Pulse width control. This slider acts as an offset when modulation is used.

The new Quad Quantizer from tenderfoot electronics is a versatile 4-channel CV quantizer.

This module has custom note selection, 12 pre-programmed scales and key transpositions that can be manually selected, or CV selected via the associated CV inputs.

Each channel features:
CV input - which accepts the input you wish to quantize

Sound Force VCF & VCA 6 Voltage Controlled Filter & Amplifier Module
Notes: The SoundForce VCF/VCF 6 is a Eurorack interpretation of the Juno 60/106 VCF, VCA and HPF sections. It was built based on the original service manuals documentation using modern components.

Signal flow:

The SoundForce VCF / VCA 6 features a simple 2-input audio mixer, a voltage controlled low pass filter (VCF), a VCA and a high-pass filter with 3 fixed cutoff frequencies plus a bass boost position. The signal flow is: mixer -> VCF -> VCA -> HPF.

VCF:

The VCF section is a voltage-controlled low pass filter with a selection between 4 poles (24db/octave) or 2 poles (12db/octave). The travel of the FREQ slider has been calibrated to give you the best experience in the original 4 poles mode. FM1 and FM2 CV inputs can be used to modulate the cutoff frequency of the filter. Those CV signals are added to manual position of the FREQ slider. Note that you can invert the polarity of FM1 using a toggle switch. The VOCT input can be used to close the filter more or less based on the pitch of the note played by your musical CV source. It can also be used to "play" the filter when it is self-resonating. The filter will be in tune across about 8 octaves. Self-resonance is occurring when the RES slider is around position 9 or higher. The resonance can be also voltage-controlled using the Q CV input, this signal is added to the manual position of the RES slider. Please note all CV inputs have attenuators expect the VOCT input.

LDC:

LDC stands for "loudness drop compensation", it is engaged when the switch is in the upper position. This feature avoid the usual input signal loudness drop with high level of resonance. Please note you will need to lower the input signal and/or VCA level to avoid distortion as LDC requires some extra headroom.

VCA:

This section is a "vintage-style" single OTA VCA. There is a manual slider control as well a CV input for the VCA. Both are summed together.

HPF:

The high-pass filter section is a combination of both the Juno 60 and 106 HPFs. Position 0 will give you the bass boost from the 106. Position 1 will not filter at all. From position 2 to 4 will cut progressively more bass and the cut off frequencies are 225 Hz, 339Hz and 720Hz.

Micro Sequence Functions and Controls

One of the strengths of the Micro Sequence is direct access to all of the features. The simple interface lets the user combine functions quickly to create a complex musical tool.

Channel Sliders
The channel sliders control the output voltage of both the quantized pitch output and the analog CV output. Placing the slider in the down position enables the channel mute functionality for the quantized output. When a muted channel is active, the gate output does not trigger and the quantized pitch output does not change from the previous active channel. The output of the analog CV jack is not affected by the mute functionality and will output a voltage corresponding to the position of the slider.

Direction Modes
The direction button determines the direction mode of the sequencer. Press once to show the selected direction. Press again to cycle through direction options. After selecting a new direction mode, the change takes effect on step 1. The first step of the cycle.

Forward - The sequence steps between channels 1 to 8 in order. Channel 1 represents step 1.
Reverse - The sequence steps between channels 8 to 1 in reverse order. Channel 8 represents step 1.
Pendulum - The sequence steps between channels 1 to 8 then reverses direction. Channels 1 and 8 are triggered twice to create a 16 step sequence length. Channel 1 represents step 1.
Stagger - The sequence steps between channels 1 to 8 in order with a 25% chance that the sequence will stagger back 1 step or ahead 2 steps. This creates a sequence that staggers back and forth as it steps between channels. Channel 1 represents step 1. Step 1 may be staggered past on any given cycle.
Skip - The sequence steps between channels 1 to 8 in order, skipping a subsequent channel each cycle. This creates a complex sequence of 56 steps. The first time through channel 1 is skipped, the second time through channel 2 is skipped, and so on. Channel 2 represents step 1 because Channel 1 is skipped on the first sequence cycle.
Transpose - Transpose splits the sequencer into two sets (channels 1-4 and channels 5-8). The top sequence (channels 1-4) is transposed by the bottom sequence (channels 5-8) running at 1/4 the rate as the top sequence. Channel 1 and channel 5 active represents step 1.
Random 1 - The active channel is selected randomly. There is no step 1 tied to random. Program changes happen immediately.
Random 2 - The active channel is selected randomly with the chance of a rest. There is no step 1 tied to random. Program changes happen immediately.

The length button assigns the number of steps in the sequence. Press once to show the number of steps. Press again to cycle through and assign the number of steps in the sequence. When Transpose Direction Mode is active, the length button sets the number of steps in the bottom transposing sequence.

Scale Modes
The scale button sets the quantized pitch output scale. Press once to show the current scale. Press again to cycle through scale options.

Micro - Fine grained access to 250 note intervals per octave.
Chromatic - 12 step scale with note intervals at 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11.
Major - 7 step scale with note intervals at 0, 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11.
Minor - 7 steps per octave scale with note intervals at 0, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10.
Blues - 6 steps per octave scale with note intervals at 0, 3, 5, 6, 7, 10.
Phrygian - 7 steps per octave scale with note intervals at 0, 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10.
Lydian - 7 steps per octave scale with note intervals at 0, 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11.

This module converts the incoming light hitting an external light sensor into 2 Bipolar CV Streams:
Output: More light > Higher CV output
Inverted Output: More light > Lower CV output

The external sensor is enclosed in a jack socket in order to be used with any standard jack cable and be able to place it in any place outside the eurorack frame.

There are several controls to adjust the CV Output's signals:

Sensitivity:
Adjusts the Light Sensor sensitivity to Light- the higher the sensitivity, the better it responds to low light situations

Response:
3 fixed settings (medium/fast/slow) to set the slew applied to the raw signal coming from the sensor.

Gain:

Notes: The SoundForce Dual Filter is a 2-stage cascaded OTA design based on the late MS-20. The design has been fine-tuned with extended resonance control as well as a resonance CV input. Each filter can be either a 12dB/oct low-pass or 6dB/oct high-pass. To keep the module HPs on the low side, the filter mode setting is located on the back of the module. The module was designed to be a very affordable full-featured modern filter.

With only 2 poles, it uses a total of 3 OTA ICs and 4 OP-AMP ICs for both filters even with the added resonance voltage control. Early on, efficiency and part counts were a focus during testing and development. In combination with automated manufacturing and a very short supply chain, the module has a very high quality standard at a very affordable price. The module uses only A-brand ICs and passive and no costs were cut during purchasing.

The SoundForce Dual Filter features 2 identical filter sections, one on the left and one on the right. Each filter has 2 audio inputs (one of which has a level control pot IN1), a manual cut off frequency pot and a manual resonance pot. There are 2 CV inputs for the cut off frequency both with their attenuverters and 1 CV input for the resonance with an attenuator.

At the back of the module you can find trimmers to fine-tune the amount of resonance. By default, the trimmers are set so the filter starts to self-resonate when the resonance knob is at 4 o'clock. Turning the trimmer clockwise will create a more exaggerate resonance and it will start to self resonates earlier. On the other hand turning the trimmer counterclockwise will tame the resonance range. The factory value is marked on the pcb with a sharpie so feel free to experiment and go back to the default if necessary.

Filter modes settings:
Each filter has 3 jumpers that sets the mode: lowpass or highpass. You will find those on the back of the PCB with clear labels for the positions of both modes. The jumpers are color coded, one filter is black, the other is white.
