Wheel Spin (Revision) (4:50)
Giv It Up (Revision) (4:58)
Review: Acclaimed French producer The Reflex is back on his Flex7 imprint. The Reflex moniker is part tribute to Nile Rodgers' remix of Duran Duran's 1984 song of the same name and a nod to the Logic Pro production software's Flextime tool, which allows users to alter and sync audio files. It's business as usual on this one, with two remixes direct from the master tapes combining creativity and functionality for maximum dancefloor impact. On the A side you've got the low slung yet elevating soul power of 'Wheel Spin' (Revision), while over on the flip there's the downtown vocal funk of 'Giv It Up' (Revision).

Susta (Ron Trent remix) (7:22)
Susta (Ron Trent dub) (7:29)
Review: The deep house maestro that is Ron Trent has been tapped up for some of his remix expertise by the good folk at Leng. He is charged with tackling Harks & Mudd's 'Susta' and turns out two versions. His opening remix is all grown up Balearic sounds. Gentle percussion is scattered over the leggy house drums, noodling Rhodes chords bring colour and a breathy female vocal layers in the sun kissed soul. It's an immediate classic. On the flip comes his dub, which is more fleshy and elastic, but with just as much soul and warmth.

If You Want Me (7:08)
So Nice (5:21)
Review: 15 months after dropping his first Versions EP of re-edits and reworks, sometime Shall Not Fade and SB Jamz producer Kassian has finally got round to readying volume two. If you're looking for bona-fide peak-time thrills, we'd recommend A-side 'If You Want Me', a subtly straightened and toughened-up re-arrangement of Barbara Roy and Ecstasy, Passion & Pain's 1981 disco anthem 'If You Want Me'. Kassian teases out some of the Italo-disco style elements audible on some of the early mixes of the boogie-era track, adding some twerkin' acid lines towards the end of the track. Over on the flip, 'So Nice' is a bouncy, shuffling, house-style tweak of a gorgeous disco bumper of unknown origin.

We Are Edits (4:37)
We Are Edits (Cosmo On The Groove) (3:58)
Review: As the title sneakily suggests, the latest volume in DJ Soopasoul's essential "Soopastole Edits" series sees the prolific re-editor and mash-up merchant take his scalpel to all time disco classic "We Are Family". We could be wrong, but it sounds like it was created using the multi-track parts, focusing as it does for much of the duration on a stripped-back, DJ-friendly groove, selected vocal snippets and delay-laden musical elements not always audible on the original version. Over on the flipside "Cosmo On The Groove" version, he takes a slightly different approach, adding a classic old school hip-hop acappella to an expertly cut-up version of the track that utilizes a little more of the sing-along chorus.

Mitiko - "Are You Ready" (7:19)
Loshmi - "Yes It Is" (5:24)
Brian SNR - "Wanna Kiss You" (6:56)
Review: Serbian label serves up the third Disco Fruit Sampler release here with re-edits, revisions and reworks from fruit bowl favourites and a new member - Brian SNR from South Africa. On the A side Hotmood fires up the furnace for the disco inferno that is 'My Dream Come True' followed by Mitiko getting some slo-mo and seriously low slung funk in effect on 'Are You Ready'. Over on the flip, loshi lends his deft hand to one that's certainly an oldie but definitely still a goodie, on 'Yes It Is'.

Kristle - "I'll Go"
The Young Delegation - "He Lives"
Rahni Harris & Family Love - "He's My Friend"
Review: Dave 'Joey Negro' Lee's Z Record imprint hit the compilation gold mine once again, calling on the curatorial skills of Dave Hill, former Ballistic Brother and founder of the iconic Nuphonic label, to flex his latter day Gospel expertise for the superb Overdose Of The Holy Ghost. This double LP collection sees Hill chart Gospel music through it's 70s and 80s period as the influences of nascent disco and boogie bore fruit. The chance to own the absolutely belting cover version of Sylvester's "I Need You" by Ricky Womack & Christian Essence in edited Joey Negro format will mean instant purchase for many current disc jockeys, but there is plenty more spiritually enlightened disco heat around it. Essential release!

Get Ready (Michael Gray remix) (6:20)
Get Ready (Ben Liebrand Classic Groove) (6:36)
Review: The SOS band is one of disco's most loved outfits. They always bring plenty of funk and soul to their work and have a signature sound that is feel good and sultry. This time their latest comeback single 'Just Get Ready' gets a fresh lick from legendary remixer Ben Liebrand. His opening funk groove version is all glossy vocals, rich chords and nice fat bass riffs. Michael Grey then offers an even brighter, more optimistic version before Liebrand then closes out with a Classic Groove. It's slowed right down, has brilliantly old school 80s production and a killer b-line.

Do You Want It Right Now (Blueprint extended remix) (6:46)
Review: Taken from the soundtrack of the cult 1985 film Fast Forward directed by Sidney Poitier, Siedah Garret's legendary song 'Do You Want It' receives a much deserved remix package here, courtesy of Australian label Tinted. Some of their finest exports front up, namely Perth legend Greg 'Dr' Packer who is up first with his super low slung Back To The '90s remix, while Jolyon Petch's Elektrik Disko remix nails that deep funky house sound of the same golden era. The original still packs a punch too, and we can assure you it's indeed featured (over on the flip) in all its neon-lit electro-boogie glory.

Give It To Me (5:50)
Do You Got It (5:41)
Review: Constant Sound offshoot Cardiology's latest boundary-blurring re-edit release comes courtesy of Alexny, an Argentinian rising star who has previously released a wealth of music on all manner of digital-only imprints. He hits the ground running with 'Everybody Get Up', sneakily adding new beats, bass and musical touches to a string-drenched old disco jam, before applying the same house-style approach to a hybrid disco/electrofunk cut on 'Get On The Floor'. Over on side B, 'Give It To Me' is a chunkier and more bass-heavy disco-house bumper, while 'Do It You Got It' is a rolling, filter-sporting revision of a particularly spacey, turn-of-the-80s disco workout.

Are You Ready Fellas? (5:38)

Musical Connection (5:13)
Review: Javi Frias has earned a solid reputation as a producer on the international disco scene since he began releasing his edits and reworks back in 2015. However, this year, during confinement, he decided to put editing aside to unleash his creativity and start recording his own productions, playing with synthesizers, electric pianos, syncopated basses and tribal percussion, and the result is this 'Sunset Disco EP'. A collection of songs that take us to a summer sunset on a beach in paradise that represent a huge leap in the career of this artist. The A side begins with 'Give Love', a hedonistic and melancholic disco song, followed by 'Noche Tropical', with Balearic overtones and reminiscences of a Caribbean party. Side B opens with 'Are You Really Fellas?', a funky little number featuring jazzy guitars and smashing bass. 'Dance With Me' brings us back to the field of the emotional and evocative disco. And finally 'Musical Connection', with touches of reggae downtempo perfect to say goodbye to this eternal and warm sunset.

A year on, after it sold out everywhere, it gets a special reissue treatment by Skint Records for National Album Day 2021 on limited, gold-splattered vinyl. Fab's Space Dance (7:24)
Close Encounters (6:10)
Together (feat Pariss Elektra) (6:43)
Sexual Especial (6:47)
Review: Nonna Fab is one of the co-founders of Apricot Ballroom, a Sheffield-based party-tuned-record label inspired by the "love will save the day" ethos of David Mancuso and his legendary loft parties. We can imagine Mancuso playing 'Fab's Space Dance', the authentically squelchy and loved-up slab of Italo-disco/New York boogie fusion workout that opens Nonna Fab's first vinyl outing. He would most likely also have approved of the warmer, looser, sweeter vocal number 'Together', where Paris Elektra's gently soulful vocal drifts above a fine broken boogie groove and D-Train style synth squelches, and the similarly sparse but warming late night sleaze of 'Sexual Especial'. We're not sure whether Mancuso would have championed strobe-lit Italo-disco chugger 'Close Encounters', but it's a properly muscular, throbbing and mind-altering gem.

Let Love Come Right On In (4:22)
Review: Both of the songs on this 1981 release by The Floater Orchestra were re-recorded by the Detroit-based outfit last year by the original band members. Led by drummer Ronnie Nelson alongside vocalists Esther Todd and Greg Mathis, the band is additionally served by veterans of the Motor City scene such as Spyder Turner, Pat Lewis, Carolyn Crawford, Willie Kendrick. The A side features the life-affirming late night boogie-down vibe of 'Happy Family', followed over on the flip by the romantic disco-funk of "Let Love Come Right On In" with its powerful female vocal and brilliant brass section.

Review: Roman producer Gaetano 'Gaeimago' Ciciriello aka Azzurro 80 makes his debut on local imprint Four Flies with a 7' inch limited to 300 copies, inspired by the Italian library scene of the '80s. The artist himself explains: 'Azzurro 80 is meant to refer to a particular shade of light blue: a worn-out, faded light blue that feels retro and outmoded'. From the chilled, acid-laced sunset balearica of 'AGIP', to the breezy and neon-lit Italo night drive soundtrack of 'Astrotensione' and the celestial meditative FM tones of 'Telefono Giallo' - follow Azzurro 80 into his reimagined version of the Italian '80s.

Review: Following up some great edits by the likes of Delay Lama, Atoz and Wandervogel, the Lego Edit 7" limited series returns with one shot per side here, each offering a beautifully arranged, string heavy backdrop of low slung funk. On the A side, Hansi respectfully resplices a bumpin' and super soulful underground goodie on "Party Is A Gruv", while over on the flip you've got a timeless R&B anthem that's paired perfectly with a love of the wacky backy on "Baci Baci" (Lego ReFunk) by the boss man himself Lego Edit.

Review: Tropical Disco have now served up an impressive 22 volumes of timeless and wonderfully seductive disco tunes. These are sounds that will brightened up your life and make it sunny even if the real weather is awful, as it is now at the end of October while we write this. Vagabundo Club Social bring Latin vibes to their big, horn lead opener 'Costero.' Monsieur Van Pratt's 'Jazz Player' then leads with a more seductive horn sound and slide guitars that get you grooving. Infradisco's 'Aungasana!' layers up steamy 80s sax lines with neon chords and bulky disco house beats and Roland & Brother Rich close out with a deep and jazzy house groove straight from a Detroit basement.

Review: Here we have the second edition of the Cuts series by the enigmatic Guest. Much like the first one back in April, we have some rare and special heaters here that have been re-spliced to perfection by Guest's deft hand. On the A side we have a respectful edit of a certain 1981 disco anthem with an amazing vocal that you have just got to hear, followed by some Ennio Morricone style spaghetti western disco on 'Maddalena". Review: Despite the universal imposition of lockdown, DJ Harvey's Mercury Rising nights have made a lasting impression on one particular Ibizan hideaway - the world-renowned rock n' roll themed hotel, Pikes, a favourite of Ibiza titans Fatboy Slim and Patrick Topping. To keep the spark of this monthly party alive, Harvey launched his 'Mercury Rising' compilations, putting only the best of Ibiza's balearic talents on display. The third and final volume is now finally in our mitts, and what an impressive array: odysseys of aquatic, twanging sound come courtesy of choice cuts by local mainstays Kraak & Smaak, Project Sandro and MODE.

Now he is back with his major label album Exotica featuring guests like Elderbrook, Sophie & The Giants and Lorenz Rhode.
