Review: D.KO's very own Rag Dabons (aka label founder Gabriel and friend Sandro) get busy on the broken drums for this epic six-track EP that kicks it hardcore (the break-rifled jungle steppers "En Panna Dauber" and "Aloe Vera") kicks it old school (the icy charms of electro poppers "B1 Bobun" and "Electropop") and kicks it freestyle (the sludgy "Glauquemort" and echo chamber obliterating "Amarou & Behzad") Nothing will ever be the same again...

The Beginning (180 gram vinyl 12")

  1. A Tribute To A Gallop (6:38)
  2. Itty Bitty Pieces (6:40)
  3. Harry Runs Out (6:27)
  4. Swans & Elephants (6:41)
Review: Following on from the equally essential "The End Of" 12" released just recently on For Those That Knoe, Jaime Read is back in the spotlight with more cuts from his 1997 album "The End Of The Beginning". It makes sense then that this 12" is called "The Beginning", but the music is far from amateur material. This is elevated, evolved and exquisite deep house and techno that shows the depth and breadth the genres can reach when the machines are pushed into wild new territory. Just listen to the alien signals embedded in "Itty Bitty Pieces," a stunning electro workout that sounds unlike anything else. For any self-respecting fan of vintage UK house and techno, this release is unmissable.

  3. Psychiflux (5:42)
  4. Cloud Walker (4:07)
Review: Exuberant 1990s electronic music revivalist Ludwig Af Rohrscheid has released some of his most magical music of late, with December 2019's "Between Worlds" being one of his best to date. There's much to set the pulse racing on this four-tracker too, from the rushing, trance-influenced melodic positivity of breakbeat wiggler "Blissful Lie" (which, incidentally, lifts the same Aisha sample as the Orb's "Blue Room"), to the IDM/braindance fusion of "Psychiflux" and ultra-deep, spaced-out brilliance of "Cloud Walker", via the madcap insanity of "Weightless", which flips from a jazz-flecked ambient soundscape to a maniacal braindance stomper midway through.

  1. We Love To Party
  2. The Greatest
Review: Finnish DJ crew Rollomatik break out on the Boogie Boutique imprint with a two track release that aims to represent the Arctic Circle fully in the nu funk/breakbeat scene. Formed of Hesh & Eaves, Rollomatik aim to rock the party and that much is evident on this cheeky 12" with "We Love To Party" deftly blending Will Smith with Chic amidst a melange of other recognisable samples. A similar approach runs through flipside jam "The Greatest" as Rollomatik lay down the vocal from an oft used Q-Tip solo joint over a heavily filtered take on Sister Sledge's most ubiquitous track.
