Deep House
  1. Ewan Jansen - "Plants"
  2. Ewan Jansen - "Plants" (Mike Grant remix - Jason Hogans Additional Keys)
  3. Trinidadian Deep - "Move Me"
  4. Trinidadian Deep - "Move Me" (Mr YT remix)
Review: Chubby has already earned its stripes as a podcast and party in Australia dealing in connoisseurs' deep house, and their leap to the world of vinyl is no less classy. The first release splits a 12" between four esteemed practitioners of true skool beats for switched on heads, leading in with Antipodean maestro Ewan Jansen. After delivering the plush tones of his "Plants," Moods & Grooves label boss Mike Grant pops up to remix Jansen with stunning, understated results. Trinidadian Deep takes over on the B side with the typically shimmering melodics and dextrous drums he's much loved for. Mr YT then serves up a final remix, nudging "Move Me" just a little up the energy scale with the help of a killer organ line placed at the front of the mix.

Deep House
  1. Native Rebel (8:20)
  2. Native Bruk (6:21)
  3. Native Uprising (7:12)
Review: Trindadian Deep was initially schooled by deep house legend Ron Trent, before casting out on his own. Native EP V is his second 12" of the year for regular home Neroli. As you might expect, it's full of musically rich deep house explorations that don't try too hard for attention. A-side "Native Rebel" is particularly beguiling, with stretched out organ lines tumbling over cosmic synth riffs and deep, layered, organic sounding percussion. On the flip you'll find the Larry Heard-meets-Kaidi Tatham lusciousness of "Native Bruk", followed by the fluttering synth solos, loose-but-dense percussion and killer chord progressions of "Native Uprising".

Deep House
  1. I Need You (feat Sarignia Bonfa)
  2. Fusion
  3. Future Funk
  4. I Need You (feat Sarignia Bonfa - Allstarr Motomusic remix)
Review: The levels of deep that Trinidadian Deep can reach with his sound are almost unfathomable, and he's at it once again for deepArtSounds. As if he needed any help getting down low, Sarignia Bonfa lends her steamy vocals to "I Need You" and the trademark Trini sound gets into a whole new realm of sensuality. "Fusion" pulls things out of the boudoir and into the sunlight, bringing some of that infectious, uplifting soul to the table that he made his name on. "Future Funk" places some synths at the front of the mix and sharpens the edges of the drumming, giving the brain one last blast before Allstarr Motomusic steps up for a remix of "I Need You" that goes down very smooth indeed.

Want You EP (100 gram transparent vinyl 12")
Cat: HANDSOFF 005. Rel: 03 Apr 17
Deep House
  1. Want You (12:41)
  2. Father (8:30)
Review: As something of a protege of Ron Trent, Trinidadian Deep has constantly excelled in infusing a traditional deep house sound with a broader palette that draws on African and Latin rhythms while ever focused on a warm, soulful end result. He's the latest artist to sign up to Hands Off, coming on direct and unfussy with this soothing balm of a two tracker. "Want You" is classic Trini, stirring up hazy lead lines over tumbling percussion for an endlessly flowing masterclass in deep house. "Father" meanwhile takes a brighter approach with its playful piano out front and sharper drum palette.

Deep House
  1. NorthernLi
  2. In The Beginning
Review: Trinidadian Deep is an artist you can count on for the kind of inventive, well-travelled deep house that reaches beyond the conventional to deliver something truly spiritual. Coming to light on D3 Elements, this latest joint from the Ron Trent family member is everything you look for in higher plain house music. "NorthernLi" has a sprightly feel to it, all pattering percussion and synth stabs that could almost come from Carl Craig in the More Songs About Food... era. "In The Beginning" has a heavier feel to it, letting thick pads and keys swirl in the mix without losing that soulful, uplifting quality that makes Trinidadian Deep jams so infectious.

Deep House
  1. Native Revolution
  2. Native Tribe
Review: Toronto's Trinidadian Deep has already enjoyed a successful start to the year, unleashing both an EP of retro-futurist house tributes on Shelter Records and the luscious "Move Me" on Aussie imprint Chubby. Here he continues to impress with a two-track missive on Alex Attias's Visions Inc. imprint. A-side "Native Revolution" is particularly impressive, with the producer wrapping spacey synths, positive chord sequences and sun-kissed synthesizer motifs around a rubbery groove rich in tactile synth-bass and layered percussion. The producer's love of stacked-up percussion hits is explored further on B-side "Native Tribe", a spaced-out, ultra-deep Afro-house cut that could well be the EP's most stunning moment.

  1. Trinidadian Deep - "Native Palo" (6:36)
  2. Trinidadian Deep - "The People" (7:23)
  3. Trinidadian Deep & Lars Bartkuhn - "The Parish" (Full Experience) (10:10)
  4. Trinidadian Deep & Lars Bartkuhn - "The Parish" (dub) (4:32)
Review: Given that Ron Trent was once his musical mentor, it's perhaps unsurprising that Trinidadian Deep is capable of producing spellbinding spiritual deep house. His former mentor's influence can be heard within the layered African percussion, lilting synthesizer melodies and spacey riffs of "Native Palo", the opening track from the New York-based producer's latest EP. There's no doubt that Trent would also love the Osunlade style beats, drowsy chords and steel drum solos of "The People". On the flip, "Trini Deep" joins forces with like-minded deep house stalwart Lars Bartkuhn for two passes of "The Parish". There's the "Full Experience" mix, an organic, warm and enveloping chunk of deep house bliss smothered in syntheszier and piano solos, and a trippy, percussion-rich late night "Dub".
