Disco/Nu-Disco
  1. The Cat Prowls Again (4:56)
  2. A Strange Servant (4:07)
Review: It's fair to say by now that Timothy J. Fairplay really does have the midas touch. From his days in electro punks Battant through to engineering in the studio for the who's who of the London scene and an unstoppable succession of great solo releases just like this one, we're always keen to hear what he's up to next. "The Cat Prowls Again" is a hypnotising and majestic serving of disco dancefloor drama that's executed like only such an accomplished engineer and expert of London dancefloors that Fairplay is. On the flip "A Strange Servant" continues on in the same vein but it's kind of like a modern re-interpretation of John Carpenter or Goblin but given a strong backbone of dancefloor energy to work modern audiences.

  1. Stories Of Prison (Scientific Dreamz Of U remix)
  2. Aim For The Yellow Sector (Alessandro Parisi remix)
  3. Saco Bay (Perseus Traxx remix)
  4. Night Ferry (Antenna remix)
Review: While they may have landed a fair while ago, it's great to see Emotional Response revisit Timothy J Fairplay's crucial early EPs with an absolutely on point remix package. Scientific Dreamz Of U brings his distinctive signal chain to "Stories Of Prison", using grinding synths and some snaking broken beats to create an early 90s trance mood to die for. Alessandro Parisi keeps things on a distinctly new wave tip for "Aim For The Yellow Sector", and Perseus Traxx brings a bold set of machine beats and technicolour synths to "Saco Bay". Antenna finishes the EP off by creating a winsome, wavey version of "Night Ferry" for sensitive souls to do the robot to.

  1. Going Solo (6:15)
  2. The Search For Jessica (5:24)
  3. Shape Of Rage (4:57)
  4. The Way Is Opened & Closed (4:37)
Review: London indie dance hero Tim Fairplay returns with an awesome EP on his own Work For Love, the label's sophomore effort that has been only two years in the making. Bold and striking vintage jams bridging the gap between first wave Chicago house, Italo disco and EBM: much like his recent efforts on Rotterdam's Charlois and his other label: Crimes Of The Future which he runs with Scott Fraser. From the spooky and hypnotic jack of "Going Solo" or the menacing midnight mood-lighting of "The Search For Jessica" on the first side, to the the B side highlight that is "Shape Of Rage" awash in analogue pads and vivid modular textures over its dusty drumcomputer rattle. This is definitely one for all the retroverts out there. From his beginnings in the early noughties with London post punk trio Battant (with Chloe Raunet aka CAR) to his known collaborations with local legend Andrew Weatherall and Daniel Avery - Fairplay always delivers.

  1. Key To Paradox (5:32)
  2. Key To Paradox (Iron Blu remix) (5:55)
Review: For the latest offering on Flight Recorder sub label Weapons Of Desire they've roped in Timothy J Fairplay, following up contributions by Auto Sound City and the early departed Andreas Gehm. Fairplay effectively bridges the gap between, techno, acid and Italo for his new offering "Key To Paradox", much in the vein of his recent works on tastemaker labels like his own Crimes Of The Future, Charlois and Emotional Response. The remix on the flip by Iron Blu aka Mick Clarke does down a classic electro sounding route, covered in the right amount of dust and grit.
