Pump Up The Feeling
Pump Up The Feeling (hand-stamped 12")
Cat: WRX 12. Rel: 05 Aug 20
Drum And Bass
  1. Concussion (4:49)
  2. Coordinated Love (5:31)
  3. Fatigue (7:08)
  4. It Was Us Or Them (7:48)
Review: Thuggy's up to his ravey tricks again. A man just as capable of pushing you off a cliff with his deadly hardcore bangers as he is flipping ATB's "Till I Come" into a breakbeat monster, anything is possible when this man's in town. Just like this killer EP on Warehouse Rave. From the deep, emotional, almost Orbitalesque intro track "Concussion" we're then hit by bouncy rave bubbles on "Coordinated Love", aquatic bewilderment on "Fatigue" and the pensive flighty finale "It Was Us Or Them". Thug life, Thug love.

Drum And Bass
  1. Television (5:28)
  2. The Kingdom (7:14)
  3. Deep Within There Is Nothing (5:09)
  4. Awkward Demise (6:34)
Review: Some folk are widow makers. Other folk are widow made. Bad to bone types who dish out breaks so brutal they should come with a medical health warning. Not that you'd pay much attention to it; beats like these are too good to miss out, regardless of health. Courtesy of Dead Man's Chest's Western Lore, it's four tracks of total rave annihilation; the bubble gun basslines of "Television", the icy unforgiveness of "The Kingdom", the prangy hardcore steps and swampy weirdness of "Deep Within There Is Nothing" and the dark finale "Awkward Demise". Some records are party starters. Other records are party made. Badness.

Authentic Experience EP (hand-stamped 12")
Cat: WRXX 6. Rel: 17 Feb 20
Drum And Bass
  1. Romanticized (6:04)
  2. Black Panther (6:30)
  3. Authentic Experience (5:39)
  4. Prospective Sub-Class (5:12)
  5. Dwyran (5:15)
Review: Following epic slabs on Western Lore and Circadian Rhythms late last year, hyper-prolific north Welshman Thugwidow slams into 2020 with this stately five tracker on Warehouse Rave. As ever, expect the full menu to be thrown at you. From the deep space jams such as "Romanticized" and "Black Panther" to the pacier, more tense jungle explorations like "Prospective Sub-Class" and the absolutely stinking, melted bass breakbeat slapper "Dwyran", Thugwidow's murderation mission continues...

Requiem For A Sesh
Cat: AST 034. Rel: 02 Dec 20
Drum And Bass
  1. Epic Questing (4:35)
  2. Void Release (6:42)
  3. Requiem For A Sesh (5:59)
  4. Infinite Bass (5:46)
Review: THUGWIDOW is an artist who adds his own atmospheric sense of space and emotion to modern jungle. He lays that style bare again here in collaboration with Bruised Skies who likes to imbue his sounds with a sense of the hyper-real. Together they offer up club-ready, strobe lit club music with, in the case of the opener, hard kicks and swirling synths. 'Void Release' then gets manic, with its shaping snares and drilling synths making for a sense of unease as 'Requiem For A Sesh' then got into overdrive with pitched up vocals, icy hardcore vibes and a sense of real celebration.
