Review: Sweely has been hugely impressive of late. The artist has really broken through in quick time with a house sound that is futuristic and full of great synth raft. Here we get a more classic take on the genre on 'Time For Freakness' with some warm old school soul and muttered vocals next to squelchy pads. 'Move For Me' is as catchy as a cold with its clipped beats and withering sci-fi keys next to a sultry vocal and three flip side cuts explore boogie-tastic Dam Funk style house beats on 'Digital Lust', skittish rhythms on 'Jazz Painter' and pumping deep tech on 'The Music Sounds Good'. Another standout.

Review: Sweely has been making moves for a while in underground fires. He's dropped his stylish electronic sounds on labels like Bunter Side Up to great acclaim and now gets the nod from another revered UK outlet in Lobster Theramin. This red and gold 12" finds the producer offering up some tracks from his archives, starting with the balmy and bumpy depths of 'Stronger Than Me'. As always the synths are lithe and neon in colour, liquid in design and restless in the way they bounce about the mix over the kinetic, infectious drums. It's a similar story with the rest of these club-ready but charming cuts.

Feeling Cosy
I Do It Naturally
The Never Ending Groove
Review: French artist Sweely is right at the forefront of underground house. The sometime resident DJ of Concrete in Paris effortlessly fuses old school cool with new school invention each and every time. This one opens with a breezy house jam that floats on airy drums with a nagging female vocal and lush chords all adding warmth and soul. There's more urgency and an unsettling cosmic energy to 'Feeling Cosy' but it's back to super sweet and seductive house on 'I Do It Naturally' with its perfectly dubby drums. Party-jacker 'The Never Ending Groove' then looks to the future with its neon pads and metallic tech drums. Great stuff.

All The Reasons (4:29)
Around (8:15)
Yes He Is (5:07)
Blue Faces (4:49)
Review: The Nice, France based producer and live act William Montana aka Sweely has appeared previously on dtape and La Chinerie and now on Lobster Theremin sub label Distant Hawaii. On the All The Reasons EP, he starts out with the lush title track; a deep and dusty tribute to the Kenny Dixon Jr sound with sultry Rhodes, rusty rhythms and a hypnotic vocal refrain. "Around" is a more straight up affair, bouncy and jackin' around in loopy fashion like the best of Motor City Drum Ensemble's Raw Cuts series. On the flip, we've got "Yes He Is", geared more for the late night on this evocative and bittersweet number relying on dubbier elements while "Blue Faces" gets stuck right into the known LT vibe with its overdriven/tape saturated aesthetic. Retaining the sombre dubbed out sounds as heard previously but expressed in more more vividly emotive fashion.

Aline Umber & Maxime DB - "Tribute To Malibu"
Aline Umber & Maxime DB - "Disco Sex Machine" (feat Machine Woman)
Sweely - "Do What U Want With Me"
Welwert - "The Shooting"
Review: The AirFunk crew is back for third dreamy deep house trip to the clouds with this new various artists EP featuring some of the genre's most revered names. Aline Umber & Maxime DB combine to start the EP off with 'Tribute To Malibu' which is a lovely hypnagogic sound that pairs a raspy bassline with pure filtered vocal hooks that drift in and out. They also offer the retro disco hose charms and Metro Area style colours of 'Disco Sex Machine' before Swell's jazzy house comes to the fore on 'Do What U Want With Me' and Welwert shuts down with a more grinding bit of house funk on 'The Shooting.'
