Nusakan (5:08)
Asmodeus (5:13)
Review: Mutal Rythm releases proper techno for proper heads. It hits a quarter of a century of releases here with Steve Redhead taking charge. The first cut is a blistering one: 'Sincfala' is like a blizzard on a frosty tundra with walls of textural synth and fizzing drums all washing over you. 'Rapidshade' is another high speed roller with some pent up funk in the drums. The machine sounds continue at pace with the cantering grover of 'Ad Valvas' and loopy, busted, underlapping intensity of 'Nusakan' which is softened only slightly by some rueful pads up top. 'Asmodeus' closes down with a deep, pulsating rhythm that keeps you on your toes.

Review: Not to be confused with the academic of the same name (who, fittingly, was one of the first to offer intellectual analysis of dance music culture in the 90s), Steve Redhead is a Belgian techno mainstay whose output has always tended towards the muscular, stomping and sonically grandiose. That's exactly what's on offer here, as the long-serving underground techno artist flits between rave-igniting intensity ('Blokhut'), noise-soaked big room slammers ('Sea Choy', with is reverb-laden, eight-bit style melodic refrain and audible nods to Morse Code), Head High style warehouse techno bounciness (the loopy but surprisingly rushing 'Bruusk'), and EBM-influenced, industrial strength analogue heaviness (the excellent title track, 'Eastbrook Isle').

Hard Techno
Steve Redhead - "The Mist Of Time" (4:53)
Maxx Rossi - "This Side Of The Moon" (7:56)
David Moleon - "Ylocascas" (7:20)
David Oblivion - "Motorhead" (7:04)
Review: Veritably wild hard techno from London's Polymeric Records, who've been hard at it since 2006. Four new ones from Steve Redhead, Maxx Rossi, David Moleon and David Oblivion all jackhammer the ear in quick succession, keeping levels redlined and atmospheric surface-tensions taut. Pressurised, cosmic and mystical themes abound on these pummelling techno numbers, of which our highlights are Oblivion's 'Motorhead' and Redhead's 'The Mist Of Time'.
