Review: Steve Moore is a modern day synth master. He has been honing his craft over the last 20 years and now, having joined forces with legendary label KPM, he explores a more quiet and introspective sound on his latest record, Analog Sensitivity. Layered up with meticulously crafted sounds, there are twinkling stars, thoughtful drones and airy open spaces all run through with an ever present sense of electronic futurism. It's mysterious and atmospheric as it unfolds on its mysterious journey. You don't know where it's going, but you're always glad to be along for the ride.

  5. My Time Among The Snake Lords (15:16)
Review: These days Steve Moore is better known for his film and TV soundtrack work than his dancefloor-leaning explorations for the likes of L.I.E.S. and Future Times. It's perhaps unsurprising, then, that the producer's latest album - his first "non-soundtrack" release for five years - sounds like it could have been composed for the big screen. That's no criticism, though, because these five tracks are utterly sublime. "My Time Among The Snake Lords" comes on like an unlikely collaboration between John Carpenter and the Radiophonic Workshop, while the mesmerizing "Your Sentries Will Be Met With Force" has all the intoxicating urgency of Vangelis' "Bladerunner" theme. Best of all, though, is the sublime title track, a dreamy and life-affirming blast of hypnotic, mid-tempo dancefloor bliss.

Review: Although Steve Moore was one of the first artists to appear on LIES, his music has actually been circulating the airwaves for over a decade. His first album, The Henge, actually came through the Relapse label, where the artist returns to now with his eye-opening score for Belgian horror film Cub. Across the nine tracks, Moore bundles together cinematic drones with vintage synth stabs, and that 80's B-movie kind of vibe. Tracks like "Casselroque" are more sinister and less melodic, but others such as "The Arrival", or "The Treehouse" exude that familiar zombie movie air. Don't worry, though, there's also plenty of noise and doom via the tenebrous sounds of "Werewolf", or even "The Truck". Chilling, off-the-wall, and full of the right kind of energy...
