Rune Lindbaek's Norse Tripping series of oddball re-edits has thus far delivered a trio of high-quality EPs packed to the rafters with tasty tweaks of unusual, eccentric cuts from the depth of the Norwegian producer's vast record collection. Predictably, volume four lives up to the impressively high quality of its predecessors. Over the course of six varied edits, Lindbaek variously offers up sleazy late-night Italo-disco ('Discoboulet'), space rock/cosmic disco fusion ('Gnesta'), new wave weirdness ('Haerverk'), extra-percussive drug-chug ('Fibre'), impossible-to-pigeonhole heaviness (the bizarre bit brilliant 'Grishin'), and clarinet-sporting Balearic brilliance ('Blodekjaerheia'). Review: Norway's king of cosmic returns and reminds every moustachioed faker where it all began. His first album since Klubb Kebabb on Noid in 2007, here we find him eking further away from the dancefloor delving into the realms of pop (The Beloved style "End Of The World"), ballads (the Alice Russell / soft Moloko style "Sculptures") and even a dash of pristine, super polished yacht ("Wonder"). Imagine Royksopp being produced by Lindstrom and you get the idea... Classy, sophisticated but wholly accessible without any compromise.

Review: Rune Lindbaek is about as legendary as they come with regard to the Scandi-disco scene. He's been involved in a long list of fine projects and now steps out wit his own new label Cosmic Oslo. The first trip sees him join up with The Balearic & Cosmic Disco queen of Norway for a brilliantly unique set of tunes. 'Blodekjaer Rave' has a ratter ominous dark disco feel with fizzing synths and raw drum chugs, 'Fiero' has a chunkier grover with echoing vocals disappearing into the shadows and 'Hubris' goes slow and mysterious with its snaking bass and haunting vocal shimmers. 'Julemix' is the all conquering ambient closer that floods you with synth texture.

Review: Baris K's Disco Hamam returns with the latest edition in its various artist EP compilation - number seven to be exact. On this one, we have another fine collection of exotic and oddball grooves; Norsk Tripping chief Rune Lindbaek appears with another clever edit, this time in the form of the hazy Middle Eastern musical themed "Hashish", Tushen Rai visits acid house via Bollywood on "Balu", Paralel Disko (Baris K) serves up the EP highlight with a low-slung cover of the George Benson classic "Gimme The Nite" and closing it out on the B side with Jonny Rock aka Afacan Sound System on the wacky Wurlitzer boogie of "Oriental".
