Review: Neil Landstrumm on Exit Records.... This was only a matter of time. Where Neil has consistently stood in techno, dBridge has in drum & bass. The pair are kindred spirits and it's freeform, guileless analogue jams like these that really highlight their shared interests and approaches. Created using pretty much only an MPC and Moog, jamming in the way the Scottish maverick always has, each cut hits a machine funk rawness; 'Chincy' is Neil's take on trap with rainbows of 80s electronic showered over the mix, 'Cutlass' is straight up '93 jungle while 'Eighty Four' is your quintessential electro body popper. A match made in analog heaven.

Review: Neil Landstrumm began his solo production in 1993, influenced by the Sheffield school of bleep as well as electro and Miami bass. His unique sound soon caught the ears of a wide variety of the world's finest electronic labels - going on to record for Tresor and Planet Mu among others and he remains one of the scene's innovators. Featured here are timeless classics such as "Takks" or "Sniff & Destroy" which nailed that similar kind of minimal funk that label mate Daniel Bell was creating at the time, through to the bang and clatter of frantic jams like "Swing/Jerk" and "Blam The Target" (Inhabit The Machines) which are still a true zeitgeist of early '90s UK techno.

Review: After moonlighting on the label mere months before with the Montesa EP, Neil Landstrumm returns to Sneaker Social Club with a whopping great album of colourful jams that count amongst the most accessible tracks he has ever produced. An artist that seems to evolve in phases, Landstrumm is clearly embracing the rounded synths and melodic thrum of classic electro at present, but that's not to say he's lost any of his wayward spirit. From the detuned slur of notes on "Nonplussed" to the sassy bleep tribute of "Electrified At Dawn" there is plenty of that arch humour that has always been embedded in his singular brand of techno, just without those abrasive edges that have made his music a tad scary in the past.
