Review: To coincide with the twenty-fifth anniversary of Berlin club Tresor, Juan Atkins and Moritz Von Oswald have released a second Borderland album together. It begins in ominous mode, with the title track's brooding bass tones casting a long, dark shadow, but the pair soon find a way to break away from the gloom with the mesmerising chords and heavy rhythm of "Lightyears" and the wonderfully spacey Detroit techno of "Riod". Both "Odyssey" and "Merkur" push the tempo back down but keep an emphasis on hypnotic, woozy textures, snappy drums and jazzy tones, while "2600" shows that Van Oswald hasn't lost his ability to craft dub-heavy, dreamy techno.

Review: Following the success of their first collaboration, the TLF Trio aka Danish cellist Caecilie Trier, pianist Jakob Littauer, and guitarist Mads Kristian Froslev now reunites with electronic legend Moritz von Oswald for their new album, Latency. This follow-up to Sweet Harmony delves deeper into chamber music with two new tracks blending acoustic and electronic elements. New Songs & Variations expands on the minimalist and narrative qualities of their debut and is enriched by the Basic Channel legend von Oswald who reinterprets two of TLF Trio's pieces and bridges classical and modern music. As such the record reflects a dynamic fusion of past and present.
Review: The latest project from Basic Channel pioneer Moritz Von Oswald examines the sonic relationships between human voice and synthetic tones. The initial outline of the album was shaped out in Von Oswald's studio on an assortment of synths, before Finnish composer Jarkko Riihimaki wrote the compositions out as sheet music to be interpreted by Berlin-based choral group Vocalconsort. Recorded in a nearby church, these austere compositions strike a neo-classical note, but they also naturally align with Von Oswald's accomplished legacy in the realm of minimal music while pushing the renowned artist and his listeners in challenging new directions.
