Review: Noise musician Moor Mother offers up a theatrical collection here which is influenced by housing and technology and features confrontational poetry. The music is performed live by Circuit City Band and Irreversible Entanglements and is as futuristic and challenging as it gets right now. Tough not for the faint of heart, this is meaningful music in tune with the ills of the world we live in right now. It only grows more manic and dense with each new track as drums, wind and vocals all collide in a chaotic free fusion.

Review: If you think that "Analog Fluids of Sonic Black Holes" is a poetic title for Carmae Ayewa's fourth album as Moor Mother, just wait until you hear her spoken word lyrics. She's an artist with a very singular vision, both lyrically and musically, and it's this that makes the album such an absorbing listen. Her subject matter is personal, political, social and cultural, and the music backing it - a forthright, experimental, densely layered mixture of discordant jazz samples, dark ambient chords, intense noise, industrial strength machine beats and growling, Nine Inch Nails style raw alternative rock sounds - is pushed to the limits to emphasize the strength of her message. It's an intense trip, but one that's well worth taking time and again.

Review: There are few artists quite like Camae Ayewa AKA Moor Mother, a self-titled producer of "black girl blues, project housing bop and black ghost songs" whose wildly experimental but utterly essential back catalogue sounds like nothing else around. She's in fine form on Circuit City, a four-act story in which her on-point spoken word (and occasionally sung) vocals rise above a simultaneously chaotic, otherworldly, cosmic and intense form of abstract and freestyle jazz that defies definition. It's utterly inspired all told, with Ayewa and her musical collaborators conjuring up a quartet of cuts that somehow manage to be as beautiful and poignant as they are wild and intense. Stunning.
