  1. Makers (Mike Shannon mix)
  2. Makers (The Mole & Hreno mix)
Review: Sharing the first fruits of a collaborative booze-up in the studio, Makers Part 1 features Mike Shannon and The Mole & Hreno's own takes on the audio love-in. There's trademark styles from all the component artists present, most notably in DeWalta's honey-coated saxophone tones. On Shannon's mix, there's no mistaking his trademark growling synth sound and stripped-back shuffle, but it blends beautifully with the more natural tones of sax and an organ hum to produce a deep cut with imagination at its core. The Mole and Hreno feature a more rolling kind of groove, still placing the emphasis on those warming tones at the centre of the track but applying them to a different end.

  2. Henry Hyde - "Green Flash" (5:09)
  3. Seuil - "Trois Bassins" (6:11)
  4. Oddmann - "Hackney Weak" (6:12)
Review: London's Half Baked Records came to life in early 2013, as part of the HBF Agency - representing their renowned Sunday afternoon parties. The record label was created in order to complete their platform and as an output for the music of their residents, such as Robin Ordell and Greg Brockmann. As part of their eight year celebrations, they've roped in some legends and newbies alike for this celebratory EP. It's nice to hear Cynosure main man Mike Shannon return to some gutsier sounds, similar to the what he was producing a decade ago - the industrial influenced groove of "Gratiot Avenue" calls to mind his work with Dewalta on Indigo Raw a couple years back. Undersounds' Henry Hyde closes out the A side with the spacey swing fuelled breaks of "Green Flash". On the flip, Eklo head honcho Seuil continues with his new love of retro sounds on the funked-up Detroit tribute "Trois Bassins" while Oddmann return after their appearance on HB010 with the reduced and gloomy after hours deepness of "Hackney Weak".

  4. Nicola Kazimir - "Reductive Ford" (7:20)
Review: Repress of well received new Lisbon label's first release. This various artists 12" features some pretty big names in minimal techno and got the label off to a flying start which has since released the likes of local artists Altitude and Activ Analog. On Assembling 1 EP they give us the slow burning but funky reductionism of Canadian Mike Shannon and his offering "Pimp Limp", Voigtmann and his cold, shuffling hypnotism demonstrated on "Muffshuffler" and Swiss young gun Nicola Kazmir who serves up the delightfully paranoid after-hours shenanigans of "Reductive Ford". Deep!
