Review: Warning - this could get triggering for anyone in their (ahem) upper-30s who still considers themselves young, hip and healthy. Metronomy's landmark 2011 Mercury Prize Nominated album, The English Riviera, is now a decade old. Just take that in for a second, and try not to think about how many cigarettes, bottles of moonshine and sleepless nights have happened between then and now.

Without wanting to say much more about age, anyone who remembers this dropping will likely also recall arguably the most beautiful CD cover design of the last decade - effectively framing a simple picture of palm tree, beach and ocean in a laser cut cardboard wrap. Simply put, getting hold of a copy was a genuine delight that far exceeded expectations. The music wasn't bad, either, with record number three catapulting Joe Mount and Co from niche electronic fidgeters to main arena, grand pop maestros. They never looked back.

  2. Insecurity (Michael Mayer What Iz Love remix) (8:06)
  3. Salted Caramel Ice Cream (Anna Lann remix) (5:28)
  4. Wedding Bells (Georgia remix) (4:24)
  5. Lately (Gerd Janson & Shan remix) (5:43)
Review: Just when you thought Record Store Day 2020 was over out comes another release, this time in the form of some remixes of Metronomy. These are the best of the bunch from the Metronome Forever Campaign and include Idles take on 'Wedding Bells', which is the Bristol band's first official remix for another artist. Kompakt label head and long time grown up techno champ Michael Meyer then comes through with a What IZ Love remix of 'Insecurity' that is all about widescreen electronic exploration. Interdisciplinary audio-visual artist Anna Lann and much vaunted Domino talent Georgia then steps up and the whole thing is shut down with a rework from Running Back boss Gerd Jansen in collaboration with Shan.

Review: Joe Mount of lovable scuzz pop outfit Metronomy mans the latest volume in the long running Late Night Tales, a series who always seem to get the best results out of an unexpected cast of participants (Belle & Sebastien, MGMT, Trentemoeller and Midlake being recent inductees). It's hard not to get sucked in from the sugar sweet opening of Outkast's "Prototype", which is the first of several tracks that demonstrates Mount has a penchant for slow bumping R&B and outsider hip-hop with Tweet, Sa Ra and a Dr Octagon classic also appearing. A typically far reaching approach to genres applies here with the cosmic jazz of Chic Corea happily mingling with Autechre and Two Lone Swordsmen, and American synth oddities Geneva Jacuzzi and Appaloosa mingling for attention with The Alan Parsons Project and Herman Dune. The de-rigueur cover version arrives with a Metronomy rendition of Jean-Michel Jarre's "Hypnose" while Paul Morley ends the selection with a spoken word piece. This vinyl edition has 18 of the tracks spread separately across two plates as well as the mixed CD and a booklet!
