Tight Rope (part 2)
Review: Pure Plastic welcomes the return of the acid-house don, Baby Ford, in collaboration with label boss and long time friend Mark Broom for a session of raw vintage spatial disco grooves. "Bubblebath" is a killer. You can't afford to miss this.

Gary Beck - "Luxar" (Mark Broom remix)
Mark Broom - "Redial"
Review: Techno cognoscenti Mark Broom and Gary Beck team up for some serious jams on Beard Man. Sprawled across the A Side is a Broom remix of Beck's "Luxar", a driving bomb that will please fans of Frozen Border and Sandwell District immensely. Broom's own "Redial" appears on the flip, which brings a more bouncey swagger to proceedings, with a shuffling groove riding deep beneath some rather nice sonar bleeps. Top release.

Klashjamz (4:44)
Showtime (4:32)
HighNRG (5:04)
Jazz Ting (4:57)
Review: Mark Broom is one of the mainstays of the global underground. The UK titan has a recognisable take on house and techno genre that is underpinned by slamming kick and that comes to bare once more now as he lands on fellow legend Radio Slave's Rekids label. These four cuts bring a more house feel to start with as 'Klashjamz' layers up disco strings and vocals into something joyous. 'Showtime' has a garage slip to the loopy, silky drum rotations and 'HighNRG' throws it back with big stabs, percussive drums and chopped up vocal shards. 'Jazz Ting' is an aptly named closer with plenty of steamy sax notes of raw, loopy grooves.

Late Night Rave Muncher (Tribal mix) (4:04)
Review: Mark Broom's Mutated Battle Breaks series is proving to be some of the most inspired music from the UK techno stalwart in years. When you're getting a Mark Broom record you expect a certain degree of techno functionality, but here he's ladling the rock solid rhythms with serious funk and flair. The offbeat synth groove of 'Tube' feels like a nod to Robert Hood's pioneering style, but Broom does plenty to jazz the music up in his own way. 'HF2 (Bass Line Mix)' features some cheeky acid and a subtle swing to the hats which will get you locked in hard, and then 'TEST25' fires off an absolute stormer with some of the toughest finger-clicks you'll have ever heard in a peak time techno monster, laden with disco string stabs.

Review: UK techno veteran Mark Broom knows how to bang a box and get great techno magic out the other side. That disproven time and time again here on this new and third volume of Mutated Battle on Matt Radio Slave Edwards's Rekids label. 'Cloning' is crispy and precise old school techno with vast drums and frosted synths. The rest of the cuts are just as simple but effective, where powerful kick are combined with deft synths to make for muscular sounding cuts that will jack up any dance floor. Timeless stuff from a true techno titan.

100% Juice (Sampler mix) (4:01)
Contigo (4:46)
Nod To The D (5:51)
Spiked (3:59)
Review: Following the release of his blisteringly heavy Funfzig album on Rekids last year, Mark Broom returns to Matt Edwards' imprint with a teaser for the hotly anticipated follow-up, 100% Juice. As you'd expect, there's no messing around from the UK techno veteran, with opener '100% Juice (Sampler Mix)' delivering a bowel-bothering, cranium-snapping blend of rave-igniting, minor key stabs, booming bass and stomping beats. In contrast, 'Contingo' is trippy in tone thanks to all manner of overlapping synth lines, while 'Nod To The D' sees Broom blend his own drum machine-driven take on techno with vintage Motor City sounds. Rounding off a rock-solid EP is 'Spiked', a raw and razor-sharp techno throb-job primed for peak-time floors.

Review: British techno mainstay Mark Broom rightly won praise for his first Mutated Battle Breaks EP, which showcased a variety of killer club cuts designed purely to suit thumping peak-time techno sets. We'd be surprised if this similarly superb sequel doesn't get rave notices too. It begins with a bouncy, riff-sporting slab of warehouse-ready tech-funk (Dave Angel would be proud) and ends with the dark, twisted and similarly rave-era-inspired techno-jack of 'Pump'. In between, you'll find six other short, sharp bursts of breathless techno brilliance, including the acid-fired sweatiness of 'Game' and 'The Start Up', and countless basement-bothering thumpers.

Fingers (4:38)

Wild Style (3:54)
Facteur (3:53)
Review: Does techno get much better than UK veteran Mark Broom on defining contemporary label Rekids? Not often, that's for sure, as this Fast Funzig EP proves. 'Fingers' opens in eerie fashion, with a heavy groove rolling beneath curious motifs and sweeping synth chords. 'Slow' is then a heavyweight, mid-tempo stomper with razor sharp hi hats and before 'Wild Style' is just that - broken beats, whirring percussion and pixelated synths all in free fall. Closer 'Facteur' might just be the EP highlight - it's got big, oversized drums and fizzing bass, heady chords up top and a general sense of techno escapism.

Outta Sight (4:34)
L4LV (5:37)
Five/Four (5:15)
TR1 (4:59)
Review: Hardgroove have released some serious names in the techno scene before now - the likes of Mella Dee, Borrowed Identity and Charles Green. It's no surprise considering Ben Sims is at the helm, and that equally explains the fact that the legendary Mark Broom has graced the label with his latest set of taut, main room club cuts. "Outta Sight" is a mean-tempered workout with a whiff of electro in the lead synth refrain, but it's not as outwardly malevolent as noisy juggernaut "L4LV". "Five/Four" has big room chords and massive splashing rides to get fists shaking - the consummate peak time belter. "TR1" takes things in a more dungeon-esque direction, using guttural rhythmic incisions to drag you into the depths of the night.

Make Me (Mella Dee Raw Traxx mixx) (5:11)
Review: Mark Broom is the UK's official tech-house don, and has been for nearly two decades. The amount of music this dude has put out never ceases to amaze us, especially for its continuity and inarguable smoothness. He's up on Gary Bek's Bek Audio, reigning down on us with an absolute blinder in "Make Me", dominating the A-side with a fat, fully-locked groove driven by sensational disco vocals. On the B-side, "Fun 18 Mix" feels like 90s era Versatile, or the sort of tune that Gemini would have played, all blasting horns and heavy kicks, while the Mella Dee remix of "Make Me" proceeds to inject the original with yet more percussion, yet more groove and, of course, Dee's natural rawness.

Review: After a quiet 2016 thus far Och's Autoreply label is finally back in action with a frankly fantastic selection of workouts from Mark Broom. In keeping with the style Broom has been exercising in new Perbec jams with Baby Ford, this is more restrained than the muscular techno Broom can also be known for. Instead, you get expressive, satisfying house tracks such as "18.2" and the neatly pumping "10" with its killer array of synths to satisfy the dancefloor and the mind in equal measure. Avoiding unnecessary fireworks in favour of perfectly chosen and shaped elements, this is a glittering demonstration of Broom's cool-headed approach in the studio.

Frontline (Ben Long & Oliver Way remix) (5:40)
Review: The ever-versatile Mark Broom returns to his own label for a storming techno release. The title track revolves around a high-paced acid pulse, with the smart use of filters making it sound even more frazzled. Robert Hood repays the favour to Broom for appearing on his M-Plant label by delivering a heavy, visceral take on the title track, with the Detroit producer's signature metallic riffing and cast iron beats to the fore. Of a bigger surprise is Ben Long and Oliver Way's remix; although it's a high octane affair, the groove is pulsing and surprisingly fluid. Adding to this unexpected turn is Ben Long's 'late night' mix, where the veteran UK producer lays down a hypnotic, ambient pulse.

Stunned (97 mix) (7:42)
Decay (5:07)
Review: Quite a landmark M Plant release here as Mark Broom gets the honour of being the first artist other than Robert Hood to release on the label in some 16 years! The UK techno veteran dips into his own archives for the lead track, turning in a new live take on "Stunned" which was originally released on his Pure Plastic label back in 1997. Whilst retaining the essence of the original, this new self-styled 97 mix feels a lot cleaner sounding and wholly appropriate for release on M Plant. On the flip, "Decay" sees some of the devil in Broom come to fore on a pounding production that will test the foundations of any self-respecting night club.

Review: As usual, the Power Vacuum press officer nonchalantly trumps any attempts from the Juno review team to adequately describe Acid Dik, the label's latest 12" courtesy of UK techno veteran Mark Broom... "Step into Broom's Dojo and be met with a sausage Apocalypse, as the UK techno Magus flays alive your wildest dreams using his brace of bangers. With snake-like precision this chimera of the shadow realms pounds techno oblivion from his production line. Sparks fly as gleaming loaves of acid-soaked brilliance fly out the bakehouse door, the master baker's eyes spinning like electronic roulette wheels - out of control under delirious bass weight. Enshrouded in the blue haze of the shamans gourd pipe, Mr Mark Broom is again set to blow the back doors off any club this side of Basildon."

Review: Belgian label Token dip their toes in the reissue game with this marbled vinyl presentation of a Mark Broom cut from 2002. Originally released through the Coda offshoot of James Ruskin's Blue Print, "Two" apparently highest amongst Token boss Kr!z's personal favourite Mark Broom productions and the track still sounds immense some eleven years on. A classic example of Broom at his most relentlessly thumping, "Two" is given some contemporary context on the B Side with a Syntax remix whose spacious textures and brushed syncopation offer a more serene accompaniment. Broom's original also features alongside Xhin, Ben Klock and Surgeon on a forthcoming label compilation from Token
