Fire Of Water
Fire Of Water (180 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: NAVIGARE 001. Rel: 20 Aug 21
  1. Fire Of Water (16:10)
  2. Fire Of Water (Deepbass remix) (6:44)
  3. Fire Of Water (Toffes Varld remix) (8:17)
Review: Navigare Audio is a brand new label that launches with a characterful EP of techno sounds from Marcus Henriksson and remixer Toffes Varld. Henriksson is someone who has been toiling away in the tech underground for more than a decade with solid credits on top labels like Mule Electronic and Home Records. His 'Fire of Water' is a techno tune with an oriental sense of melody that takes you to another world while the hypnotic drums roll on below. The Deepness mix sinks the tune down into the underground and is all the better for it on our view, then Toffes Varld remixes with a more zoned out and atmospheric style that gets you thinking.

Bilderna Bakom EP
Bilderna Bakom EP (heavyweight vinyl 12")
Cat: HOME 005. Rel: 21 Feb 18
  1. Begynnelsen (6:58)
  2. Nagonting Slappte (6:38)
  3. Bilderna Bakom (7:45)
  4. Odet (10:06)
Review: Minilogue member Markus Henrikkson has spent much of his solo career successfully pursuing collaborations with like-minded producers. It's little surprise, then, to find him in collaborative mode once more on this fine four-tracker. This time round, he's joined in the studio by fellow Swedes Omar Chelly and Anders Rosengren, both of whom are best known for their work together as Solid Snake. The trio begins with something ghostly, intergalactic and melodious - the 4/4 tempo electro shimmer of "Begynnelson" - before exploring darker, slower and more atmospheric territory on "Nagonting Slappte". The B-side sees them in all-out psychedelic techno mode, with both the acid-powered "Bilderna Bakom" and hallucinogenic "Odet" (which sounds like a contemporary techno take on the Shamen's "Re: Evolution") sounding like peak-time anthems in the making.
