Review: In October 1987, just after releasing their now legendary Opus Dei album on Daniel Miller's Mute label, post-industrial rockers Laibach performed live at Schlachthof in Bremen, Germany. That set was recorded for a radio broadcast, and 33 years on has now been available on CD for the very first time. The Slovenian band spent months earlier this year editing the recordings and re-mastering them, and as a result Bremenmarsch sounds terrific. When we listened on headphones, we actually felt like we were amongst the audience as the performance - a mixture of raw and weighty versions of early Laibach classics, doom-laden workouts and more experimental excursions - angrily unfolded in front of us.

Review: Laibach's new EP is made up of "unpublished tracks from the repertoire of the band's 2015 performances in North Korea". "Honourable, Dead Or Alive, "When Following The Revolutionary Road" are based on an aria from a North Korean opera written and produced under the watchful eye of Kim Jong Il, but Laibach's interpretation was deemed too complicated hence stricken from their show. It's presented here, however, with two takes on North Korean pop hit "We Will Go to Mount Paektu" along with folk song "Arirang" to make for a wonderfully exotic release.

Review: In 2015, long-serving Slovenian experimentalists Laibach became the first Western band to perform in North Korea, including a number of songs from "The Sound of Music" - a favourite in the DPRK since the 1960s - alongside their own material. Three years on, and with the assistance of Silence's Boris Benko and vocalist Marina Martensson, they've finally delivered their interpretation of the musical film's familiar soundtrack. Swaying between rock balladry, experimental synth-pop, darker tones and industrial style fuzziness, the band's covers are both revolutionary and revelatory, as staples such as "The Lonely Goatherd", "My Favorite Things" and "Do-Re-Mi" are given radical makeovers. As they did at the concert that inspired the set, they also give their interpretation of some traditional North Korean folk songs.
