Deep House
Acasual - "Her"
Tominori Hosoya - "Thinking Of The Days"
Kiddmisha & Apoena - "Dancin"
Jonno & Tommo - "Mystic Feelings"
Review: The latest offering on Owen Jay's Batti Batti label features a cast of characters doing different but equally excellent things within the realm of deep house. Acasual is up first, presenting a reflective tour through lingering chords and swirling pads perfect for rainy spring days, while Tominori Hosoya goes one further with the soul-stirring ambience of "Thinking Of The Days". Kiddmisha & Apoena set light to the B-side with the restrained but utterly on-point depth charge "Dancin", and then Jonno & Tommo round the record out with the sultry "Mystic Feelings", making this a complete package of high grade house music from the heart.

Disco/Nu-Disco
Francis Inferno Orchestra - "Horizon Beat"
Jonno & Tommo - "Scare The Night"
Scott Featherstone & Tino - "Circles"
Ramboiage - "Pretty Baby"
Review: Brand spanking new label Sccucci Manucci launches with a 12" offering containing cuts from four different but equally pleasing sources. Those of you who hang out at the crossroads where disco meets house will no doubt already be keenly aware of the stylings of Aussie pup Francis Inferno Orchestra, and here he turns in piano-driven stomper "Horizon Beat". No less euphoric is "Scare The Night" by Jonno & Tommo - alas not a production duo from Far North Queensland but the considerably less tropical climes of London - who drop an oven warm slow-mo jam that brings to mind I:Cube's epic "Falling". Scott Featherstone & Tino TCB on the flip, with "Circles" guaranteed to raise a smile from the more discerning corners of the dancefloor. Portuguese newcomer Ramboiage rounds off the release, dropping some Cottam-esque heavy thud house on "Pretty Baby". Already in the record bags of Jacques Renault and other members of the disco cognoscenti, fans of Wolf Music and Kolour Recordings will be all over this record which comes wrapped in some seriously porno artwork.

Stratocaster (Brawther remix)
Review: ***B-STOCK: Sleeve damaged but otherwise in excellent condition***

Breezy, easy vibes smoulder through every inch of this brand new 12 from label regulars Jonno & Tommo. Over the past ten years the pair have worked their magic through all strands of the house spectrum on labels such as Trelik, Finale Sessions, Verdant as well as Ornate, but on here, chief cut Biosflash places them squarely back in the domain of laidback, deep house. This is a perfect summer roller, and can't fail to put a smile on your face, as you roll your windows down. Stratocaster keeps the sunshine vibe high, yet mines a little deeper, channelling the sounds of classic late-90s deep house labels such as as Seasons, Straight Up and Rotax.

Two bona fide deep house heavyweights, Brawther and Andres, both lend their unmistakeable touches, taking one track each, giving this package a little something extra.

Minimal/Tech House
Love Songs (7:35)
Bloc Via Bow (6:30)
Running Hammock (6:34)
Review: More commonly found lurking around on Ornate and People Are Looking At You, Jonno & Tommo make the leap to Baby Ford's legendary Trelik label with a diverse range of club tracks that highlight their flexibility in the dance. "Love Songs" may be packing a punchy rhythm section, but the dusty vocal sample injects a haunting soul into the framework of the track. "Bloc via Bow" meanwhile keeps things sprightly and notably tech-minded with its catchy lead chord stabs, before "Running Hammock" heads down into a mysterious, jazz-tinted abstraction of deep house, neatly rounding out a strong EP.

A Month Of Rain
Made Visible
Review: Returning to the fray for the second installment in its deep house venture, the People Are Looking At You imprint sees a confident expansion on the sultry tones laid out on the first slab of wax, featuring a sturdy pair of cuts from London production duo Jonno & Tommo. Taking charge with the A side, "A Month Of Rain" is a multi-faceted mover loaded with suspense and surprise. In its opening strains the sharp beat ticks out across a sparse, dub-informed soundscape that slowly fills out via a captivating chord refrain, haunting and seductive in equal measure. Without giving too much away ahead of experiencing the track for yourself, be prepared for a dazzling break in the clouds that lifts the summit of the track into an entirely different headspace. On a different kind of house agenda, "Made Visible" creeps into action on a slow and slamming bed of rough drums and immersive bass notes, subtle flashes of percussion creating kinks in the groove and the choice vocal samples injecting warmth and soul into the otherworldly atmosphere. When the climactic chords come in to signal the second half of the track, it brings the ranging elements to the surface for a truly soul-cleansing experience.
Proving that house tracks need not stagnate in the same mood from start to finish, PALAY02 is a strong next step for a label committed to bringing something new to the table.

Close The Door
Small Stone
Small Stone (Miles Sagnia Cosmic Gravel mix)
Review: REPRESS ALERT!!! Coming correct from deep within the London scene, Jonno & Tommo consummate their production partnership with a return to Ornate to delve further into the hypnotic, soulful end of the house spectrum. "Close The Door" stretches across the A-side of their new release, the tough demeanour of the drum-heavy intro giving way to a serene pad arrangement, setting the tone for a starlit workout bolstered by an infectious hook of dusty vocal and subtle sonic decoration that accentuates the groove. "Small Stone" represents a more reflective mood on the flip, steadily feeding in reams of rhythm and melody before fully blossoming into an equally seductive, bumping jam laced with a perfectly pitched acid line that nestles into the cosy confines of the track.Secret weapon of the capital's underground house fraternity, Miles Sagnia steps up with a simmering remix of "Small Stone" that keeps the tension high and the textures roaming through a decidedly futuristic soundscape, while still retaining the ethereal tone of the original.

Deep House
Jonno & Tommo - "Dirty Nylons" (6:32)
Michael Zucker - "Just Believe" (6:43)
Michael Zucker - "Narrow Is The Gate" (6:39)
Jonno & Tommo - "Shark City" (6:59)
Review: Michael Zucker continues to steer the good ship Finale Sessions with a steady hand on the deep house tiller, and this time he's enlisted Ornate regulars Jonno & Tommo as trusty deck hands. Their track "Dirty Nylons" opens the record up in a woozy haze of twinkling piano and dreamy chords slipping in and out of earshot. Zucker follows this up with the moody tones of "Just Believe", before leaping over to the B side to roll out the broken beats and heavy reverb of "Narrow Is The Gate". Jonno & Tommo then round the record off with the sensual rub down of "Shark City", pitting pattering percussion against snappy chords and a steamy vocal lick for saucier moments in the club.

Nail - "Shake Back" (7:58)
Jonno & Tommo - "Wolf Spirit" (3:14)
Review: Spain's Slow Town rarely fails to deliver the goods. Split, so called because it contains tracks from numerous artists, more than lives up to the label's rising reputation. It probably helps that the A-side comes from former Bent man and longtime East Midlands deep house stalwart Nail. His "Shake Back" explores similar sonic territory to Pepe Bradock's "Deep Burnt", whilst retaining the chunky, bass-heavy bottom-end recognizable from his releases for Classic, Shabby Doll and Robsoul Recordings. On the flip, there's an equally assured cut from London stalwarts Jonno & Tommo. "Wolf Spirit" is an altogether more tech-tinged affair, built around a restless electronic bassline, hypnotic percussion and woozy, late night chords.

Jonno & Tommo - "Efficacy" (Havantepe Emax Potentiation) (6:24)
Review: The Verdant label continues to plumb depths others fail to reach in the search for the most immersive techno emanating from the underground. On this split disc, the A side is under the control of Sirko Muller, who unfurls a masterful take on dub techno and minimal house as subtle as it is sublime. RV800 then remixes "Affinity" and makes it into a bouncy, acid-flecked groover that remains true to Verdant's deep dynamics. Jonno & Tommo take on the flip with the sultry mood piece "Efficacy," a spooked-out trip of a track that gets flipped into a slippery electro number by Havantepe.
