Review: Upon first hearing this EP, we found ourselves assuming that an upcoming producer really 'got' the pure raw feeling of early jackin' house. Then we read the press release and found out that it actually was made in the good old days (1990) and has been saved from dusty oblivion by Gerd Janson's perennialy on point Running Back. It's a spectacular release, full of nasty primal rhythms and cheap synth lines that remind us of sweaty illicit clubs where parties would last for days. "Back Life" just wins out as our favourite and even the contemporary Tuff City Kids edit is a blinding body jam too.

Review: Killer debut on the Stupid Human label from System Status and Hugh Mane! The more attentive diggers out there will recognise System Status from a pair of excellent 12"s on his own Night Sweats label and he's also contributed to the Horn Wax cause. "Hands" finds the Cambridge based producer in fine form, laying down a crisp, boogie indebted production that has one of the warmest basslines in some time. Inskwel is a good choice to remix the track, given his own boogie flecked tastes and the Australian producer turns in a wonderfully gritty slowed down take that complements the original. Following his debut for Gerd Janson's Running Back, (not so) mysterious Hugh Mane mans the B Side with two diverse cuts - "Up Synth Creek With A Greek" is based around a naggingly familiar recycled melodic refrain that will nestle right in your head.
