Review: Homo-Centric Records boss Gideon returns to his own imprint with this fantastic new Spellbound EP to kick off his year in style. It's a fresh mix of house styles from across several sub genres starting with 'Study War No More' with its dry beats but catchy skip and playful synth flourishes. The title cut gets more heads down and driving with a darker US garage sound. 'Marcus Garvey' is a hands in the air piano jam with instantly feel good impact and soulful samples and 'Hora De Bailar' shuts down with a deeper sound. Four different but equally delicious cuts, then.

Review: HOMO-CENTRIC Records continues to expand its early offerings with a fourth EP from the much loved Gideon who presents his own brand musical vision across a series of cuts that travel far and wide. Opener 'Hector's Revenge' is the house-leaning opener with its uptempo kicks and hammering hits all run through with some libidinous vocal sounds. 'Fridays' slips into more silky and vocal house full of r&b energy and plenty of dancefloor-friendly grooves. 'A Road Called Destiny' then brings a more playful sense of swing with disco colour and diva vocal energy.

Review: Gideon launched Homo-Centric Records with great fanfare and for good reason. It is on a mission to be passionate, definitive and powerful in re-establishing the queer heart of house music that has been lost in recent homogenised times. The south London artist is back with his own work for this new EP and it features Tobirus Mozelle and Tasty Lopez. 'Brighter Day' is his response to Cajmere's original house classic 'Brighter Days' feat Dajae and it is a warm, balmy and seductive vocal house cut with timeless vibes and rich production. It's a ray of light and love that brings the good times in classy ways.
