  4. Tribute To My Barber (Laurence Guy remix)
Review: "France's busiest export of 2017, Bruno Boumendil, better known as Folamour, shows no signs of slowing down in the new year. The forthcoming "Arija's Theme" EP brings his now well-known, sample-based sound to Melbourne's Kyoku Records, albeit with a quirky flare that matches the playful mood of the Australian imprint's output thus far. Take Folamour's love for Japanese culture, as witnessed on his debut LP "Umami" and mix it with a label ornamented in symbols from the same background and you've got a perfect match.

The record itself consists of three original pieces from Folamour, two of which fit the distinctive, melodic tone of Kyoku and one surefire party starter, striking a nice balance between the moods. The last piece of the puzzle comes in the form of a remix from London's sampling wizard Laurence Guy, adding his unmistakable deep textures and slick noodling to an already exciting release."

Deep House
  1. Jazz Session For No Future People (6:25)
  2. Melophrenia (6:10)
  3. Janvier In Bed (2:28)
Review: There's a case to say that Folamour has yet to put a foot wrong in 2017. Over the year to date, he's released killer EPs on All City, Moonrise Hill Material and Roots For Bloom, as well as contributing fine tracks to a number of other 12" singles. Predictably, this outing on Church is also hotter than the sun. "Jazz Session For Future People" is a killer chunk of life-affirming jazz-house bounciness that offers a near perfect balance between rolling dancefloor funk and intricate musicality, while "Melophrenia" is a supremely smoky slab of ultra-deep wooziness. Arguably best of all, though, is the hip-hop tempo synthesizer Balearica of "Janvier In Bed", which may well be his most tactile and glassy-eyed cut to date.

First Class EP (pink vinyl 12")
Cat: BLRVA 001. Rel: 23 Apr 18
Deep House
  1. Folamour - "Oneness" (7:45)
  2. Ethyene - "Watchin' U" (6:41)
  3. Ari Bald - "First Class" (6:00)
  4. Dorsi Plantar - "Boogie Sunrise" (6:00)
Review: Coming at you on vibrant pink vinyl, Better Listen's First Class EP more than lives up to its' title. Check, for example, the screaming sax lines, life-affirming orchestral disco loops and bumping bottom end of Folamour's brilliant opener, "Oneness", and the bouncy disco-house positivity of Ari Bald's edit-not-edit "First Class", which is guaranteed to put smiles on faces on out on the dancefloor. Dorsi Plantar successfully tries the same trick on to woozy, ultra-soulful bliss of swirling sunshine shuffler "Boogie Sunrise", while Ethyene's undulating "Watching You" brilliantly wraps eyes-closed synthesizer lines and glistening disco guitars around a leisurely mid-tempo house groove.

Deep House
  1. Interstate - "Get Down" (5:33)
  2. Folamour - "Dancing On Your Heartbeat" (5:28)
  3. Siler & Flabaire - "House Resort" (6:32)
  4. Yooj - "Alto Glide" (6:32)
Review: Exactly a year since their inaugural "La Parenthese House" volume, Brussels groove stable Play Label get busy with a second volume. It's business from the off as Interstate makes his debut with the stunning Chi-town style jacker "Get Down". He's followed by FHUO founder Folamour with a filtered loop house roll that's primed with just the right amount of momentum. Flip for a seaside drive with previous Parenthese stars Siler & Flabaire before Berlin's Yooj takes us to the proverbial bridge with a sprightly Freerange-style sunshine strutter. Let's play!

  1. Lipski - "Magical Luv" (6:36)
  2. The Silver Rider - "Madness" (6:39)
  3. Folamour - "When She Moves, I'm Moved" (7:41)
  4. Gari Romalis & Lello Di Franco - "Luv Game" (6:53)
Review: In tribute to Record Store Day, the Diggin Disco Deep crew has put together what could be its tastiest 12" yet. Pressed on squeaky clean white vinyl, volume five in the series boasts cuts from some of the edit scene's best-loved talents. Lipski kicks things off with the blissfully wavy loops and languid Balearic house grooves of "Magical Luv", before the Silver Rider hits the mark via the softly spun nu-disco goodness of "Madness". On the flip you'll find EP highlight "When She Moves, I'm Moved" by Folamour, a sax-laden shuffle through deep house/disco fusion that sneakily pays tribute to a wedding party favourite, and the head-in-the-clouds deep house bump of Gari Romalis and Lello di Franco's "Luv Game".
