Dniheb (12")
Cat: MMX 909. Rel: 23 Nov 16
  1. Dniheb (7:23)
  2. Tanz Im Morgenmantel (4:55)
  3. Tanz Im Morgenmantel (Tolouse Low Trax remix) (7:35)
Review: Having previously impressed via a collaborative mini-album alongside David Kristian, Andrea Noce returns to Macadam Mambo. This time round, she's operating under the Eva Geist alias, and laying down expressive, synthesizer-heavy soundscapes that vary in vibe and intensity. So while there's a post-punk era feel to the clandestine guitars, shuffling beats and tumbling synthesizer lines of A-side "Dniheb", flipside "Tanz Im Morgenmantel" is a much more positive, mood-enhancing experience. What really impresses is the fluttering wooziness of her melodies and complimentary synthesizer motifs, though the dense-but-soft drum machine beats are rather lovely, too. Tolouse Low Trax remixes the latter, stripping back the positivity and increasing the industrial influence to leave a dense, undulating groove.

Blumareciano EP (180 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: FW 004. Rel: 16 Oct 17
  1. Blumareciano
  2. Blumareciano (San Proper remix)
  3. Begum
Review: Mehmet Aslan and Miajica represent some of the finest operators in Basel, and their Fleeting Wax label is on hand to represent what's good in the Swiss scene and beyond. On this latest release they turn to Eva Geist, who has previously been spotted on Macadam Mambo and Elestial Sound with her beautiful mix of synths and vocals, striking a chord between noirish synth pop and heads down club music. "Blumareciano" is a wonderfully seductive, slightly spooky stew of a track which San Proper then injects with his usual freaky energy to make for a more uptempo party version. Then Geist's "Begum" stretches over the B-side in a bubbling blend of delayed voices, tribal percussion and general outernational surrealism.

  9. Abreise (2:26)
Review: Andrea Noce aka Eva Geist is back with his second album to date, and what clearly makes for a magical companion to 2016's comparatively murkier Aquator System cassette. Noce returns via Sascha Mambo's macadam Mambo imprint, unleashing a flurry of outsider sonics and no-wave vibes thanks to this new Desfan LP. The nine tracks glide with pace and style, ranging form the docile bleeps and pseudo beats of tunes like "Electronic Tribalism" to relatively more 'dance-friendly' tunes like "Prologo" or "Nigredo". It's hard to put our finger on what makes Noce's music so singular, but it must have something to do with the artist's fascination with the Levant - a distant yet perceptible vibe that seeps through all of these tunes.
