Pale Blue (12")
Cat: RAWAX S00. Rel: 13 Jul 18
Techno
  1. Artefacts (7:04)
  2. Pale Blue (7:42)
  3. Cascades (7:12)
  4. Heritage (7:01)
Review: Fresh from fine outings on Sukhumvit and Blind Box, Diego Krause serves up a record for Rawax that is, quite literally pale blue (and helpfully titled "Pale Blue", in case you're colour-blind). The vibe is warm, groovy and intoxicating throughout, with Krause wrapping springy and tactile techno grooves with a variety of warm and futuristic melodic elements. This attractive formula is arguably most potent on opener "Artefacts" and the shimmering "Pale Blues", though the funkier and - whisper it - disco-flecked "Heritage" is also rather impressive. Fundamentally, all four tracks strike the right balance between low-end dancefloor grunt and heady, life-affirming melodic bliss.

Blind Box 007 (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: BBOX 007. Rel: 12 Mar 18
Minimal/Tech House
  1. Malice
  2. Monolith
  3. Return
  4. Return (Blind Box mix)
Review: Commonly found rocking out on Unison Wax, Constant Sound and Pleasure Zone, Diego Krause is a certified mover and shaker in the minimal house scene, and he's on fire with this latest round of missives for Blind Box. "Malice" leads the charge with a plethora of eerie synth textures flexing organically round the sturdy beat, while "Monolith" slips into a slinkier groove while keeping the tripped out tone tweaking at the forefront of our minds. "Return" brings a tougher, fist-pumping rhythm section with a snaking syn-cussion tones trickling throughout, providing Blind Box with plenty of material to sink their gnashers into on the remix.

Mogul (12")
Cat: UW 02. Rel: 08 Sep 14
Deep House
  1. Mogul (7:17)
  2. Vertical (6:27)
  3. Citizen (6:52)
Review: With the second release on his Unison Wax imprint Diego Krause is once again demonstrating how to make a heads down tracky cut worthy of attention. By placing the emphasis on crafting an impeccable trio of heavy weight house beats rich in bump and swagger, little else is needed to give these tracks appeal. In the case of "Mogul" there are occasional splashes of dubby effects and submerged organ sounds in amongst the insistent shuffle, while "Vertical" allows in a little more melody amongst the stout rhythms. "Citizen" too has little helpings of decoration around the bongo-infected groove, but it's not essential as the drums do all the talking.

Minimal/Tech House
  1. Track 1 (7:11)
  2. Track 2 (7:11)
  3. Track 3 (6:54)
  4. Track 4 (6:55)
Review: Having previously showcased his fluid brand of techno and deep house on Suena Hermosa and Beste Modus, Diego Krause decided to launch the Unison Wax label as a vehicle for his productions back in 2013. Here he returns with a fourth volume, seemingly keen to wring maximum atmosphere and deepness via a quartet of smooth, well-produced cuts. He opens with a subtly starry fusion of techno hypnotism and quiet deep house warmth, before concentrating on groove with the late night tech-house throb of "Track 2". Flip for the bass-heavy, stripped-back groove science of "Track 3", and the typically Germanic afterhours pump of "Track 4".

Deep House
  1. Track 1 (6:44)
  2. Track 2 (2:57)
  3. Track 3 (6:45)
  4. Track 4 (6:46)
Review: It's already been a strong year for Diego Krause, with releases on Apollonia and Made Fresh Daily picking up nicely where last year left off. This latest release finds Krause back on home turf with the third chapter in the Unison Wax story, providing an ideal platform for exploring all the different shades of groove the Berlin producer loves turning his hand to. "Track 1" marches forth with an uptempo house purpose that sports a perfect balance of deep melodic tones and punchy beats, while "Track 2" gets into a downtempo groove that would sound right at home on Mo Wax. "Track 3" slips back into the upbeat thrust of the dance without losing that wistful lilt in the keys, and then "Track 4" heads into sublime dubbed out house territory.

Minimal/Tech House
  1. Atlantis 1 (8:02)
  2. Atlantis 2 (7:41)
  3. Atlantis 3 (6:50)
Review: Diego Krause seems to have been doing a tour of European studios throughout 2017. This three-track hook-up with prolific producer Subb-An is his second collaborative release of the year. Interestingly, all three tracks put bold, bustling and occasionally bass-heavy percussion to the fore. This is particularly noticeable on booming opener "Atlantic 1", whose weighty kicks, snares and drum machine cymbals are accompanied by a sizeable bassline and druggy aural textures. There's a looser and jazzier feel to "Atlantis 2", where jaunty stabs dance around a swinging late night backing track, while "Atlantis 3" is a more traditional tech-house take on the same theme.
