Review: 'I'll See You Again' delivered a triumphant conclusion to Deborah Jordan's 2020 album See In The Dark, a set that DJ Spinna described as, "an instant classic". Here it gets a deserved single release, albeit in remixed form. The A-side boasts a stunning Extended Mix that's the definition of slow-burn delight, with lengthy beat-free opening and closing sections sandwiching the main body of the heavily orchestrated song. It's a genuinely stunning version. Marc Rapson takes over on the flip, first offering up a chunky, deep, trip-hop style 'Rework', before delivering a looser, warmer hip-hop soul style 'Remix' that makes great use of a squelchy bassline and rich Rhodes keys.

Review: When it first appeared digitally earlier in the year, DJ Spinna described Deborah Jordan's first album in nine years, See in the Dark, as an, "instant future classic". As it now lands on vinyl for the first time, we have to say we wholeheartedly agree with his assessment. Sitting somewhere between neo-soul, broken beat, nu-jazz and future R&B, the set sees Jordan deliver impeccable, effortlessly soulful performances of her own songs with the help of an impressive cast-list of musicians and a string quartet. Brilliant from start to finish, its multiple highlights include the slow and seductive shuffle of 'Stay With You', the piano ballad 'Fear', the stunning R&B brilliance of 'Machine' and effervescent bruk-up number 'You Should Know'.

Review: A contemporary jazz collaboration featuring the unique vocals of Deborah Jordan against the drum breakbeats and electronic nu-jazz fusion of fellow London native Kieron Ifill (aka K15). The collision of genres spans from the layered traditional R&B production on the smooth 'Heartbroken' to the 808 laden nu-jazz cut of 'Human' and the broken beats of 'Running'. Fans of Solange's 'When I Get Home', H.E.R's EPs and Liv.e's 'Couldn't Wait to Tell You' will have a long list of reasons to check this smooth mix of crystal clean production, jazzy soundscapes and hushed vocals. Jazz, Soul, Funk, and Blues fans cannot pass up the opportunity to give this LP a listen - R&B is far from dead.

Review: Futuristica’s latest release is by one of the UK's most talented producers Ohaji Kamara. The sound is crisp, tight and very soulful. Up there with any contemporary beat maker, you can easily compare him to the late J-Dilla, Spinna, Spacek and even Pete Rock. Joining Kamara on this debut single is an equally talented singer/songwriter Deborah Jordan, who is not only the vocalist for one of the best soul/broken beat groups at the moment, Silhouette Brown, but also fronts the contemporary jazz super group Robert Mitchell's Panacea. She has also graced tracks recently for Bugz In The Attic, Unforscene, Uschi Classen and Max Cole. The original title track 'Rise' is sparse, lush and incredibly soulful but remix kings Yam Who? twist it into a broken boogie dancefloor monster with the dirtiest bass line in years. The bonus cut, 'Namaste', is a deep trip into the world of future hip hop. Second single to follow soon.
